I took Kaya to the mall yesterday when I went to Crate and Barrel. Well, it turns out that Stride Rites is on the same floor, and she was sooo good at Crate and Barrel (mostly because I gave her those little silicone condiment cups to play with) and awesome at the Ecco store, where she played with the rubber duckies and let me get my food measured, and actually let me do a diaper change!!!...but I digress. Anyway, we were passing by and there was a little girl in there getting shoes and Kaya wanted to see her. So I took her in and started talking to the sales lady about getting Kaya's foot measured since I've never actually had it done. Kaya loved putting her feet on the measuring device (the lady told us to put her socks back on since it might be cold) and even took off her socks afterwards and put her feet back on it. :D

Anyway, I asked her if she had anything in the rain boot category for her size and lo and behold, she comes back with these pink rubber boots. They are shaped like this:

http://www.striderite.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=567&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=4&iSubCat=142&iProductID=567

but they are mostly pink and have a scene with the Eiffel Tower and a little French girl walking a French poodle and holding a pink umbrella. I thought they might be too high for her, but after walking around the store a little bit, she figured out her balance and started tromping around. It turns out they were $14.95 (regular $34.95), and they were sized so that she should be able to wear it through the beginning of next winter, so I decided to go ahead and get it, especially because I'm not so sure we would have been able to get those boots off of her! ;) It was the first thing she asked for this morning, but she did let us take it off for her nap ("bye, bye, boots").

I will take a picture when she wears them tonight, but I thought I'd share, since some of you MIGHT be looking for rain boots for your toddlers? They had other ones in the store and all of the boots and other winter shoes were 60% off, so now might be a good time.

That's great! I was just thinking about taking Charlie to SR to get some new shoes, so I am grateful for the idea -- he needs rain boots, too.

I have to share, since Kaya and Charlie are so often on the same plane -- Charlie has a pair of work boots that he just loves. Won't take them off -- will sleep in them if you let him. He walks around saying "BOOTS! BOOTS!"

There is just something about boots, I guess!

Those sound so cute! I got my DS matching rain boots and a rain coat. They're the frog ones. He loves them, and they're so cute I just love seeing him in them.

We have those SAME Boots and my DD LOVES them! We got them this past Fall. Well, just yesterday she grabbed them from her closet, took off her slippers and put them on herself...she refused to take them off. Then this morning she wanted to wear them out. Unfortunately we have snow on the ground and it was cold, so I literally had to wrestle them out of her hands to put her snowboots on. Of course, in my haste to keep put them on quickly, I put them on the wrong feet and we went off to grandma's; my bad mommy moment of the day!

Anyway, they are awesome boots and so cute! Great purchase at a great price!

Kaya is so obsessed with shoes and boots that every time we go somewhere new, she'll look around to see if there are any shoes or boots for her to point out and often, to try on! At her last playdate, she wore one of the other kids' shoes and I had to really coax her to take them off so that her friend could have her shoes back! "Shoes" is actually one of her first words--it was the first one that was totally clear and understandable!

I loved the frog ones! But alas, they didn't have any in her size. But that's okay, the pink boots do actually match most of her clothes better (she has purple, pink, and red clothes, mostly, with some blues).

Aww, that's really cute! The pink boots are cute! I wonder why kids would like boots so much? Although, DD really likes her basketball sneakers instead of her usual mary janes. Weird!

Oh those ARE cute, I wonder if they come in my size...? ;)

We're another shoe-obsessed family, I have to wait until DS is asleep to tiptoe in and gently slip his shoes off, otherwise he throws a fit. Maybe we overdid the emphasis on big boy shoes when I first bought them, because now he runs and puts them on himself first thing every morning, even before I've changed his diaper. I can't imagine the obsession we'll be facing when he learns he has the option to wear BOOTS!

Hee, hee, it's toddler things like this that make me laugh and help make up for the aggravation! ;)
