I just have a second, so I am not searching old posts. It has been a long time since I went to a party. I have a few things, but would love to know what you all love from here. What MUST I have?

Thanks!

I am so glad you asked, because I have been wanting to buy some stuff from DebbieJ, but can't decide.

I love their bamboo cooking spatula and spoons, the apple slicer and the garlic press. My friend has their apple peeler/corer thing (the kind you hand crank) and she loves it.

I love my powdered sugar shaker. Sometimes I'll fill it with cocoa powder and sugar to top brownies & hot cocoa, or confectioners sugar to sprinkle on cookie tops, or to shake Li Hing powder (from dried salty plums) on pineapple and passion fruit, a tip I learned in Hawaii. It also doubles as a make-shift sifter and wine sediment strainer (it sits perfectly over a wine carafe when we're decanting vintage port).

I also like the cake decorator tube thingy. I put homemade whipped cream in it to top deserts, and more often than not put homemade mashed potatoes in it to create beautiful potato swirls for Shepherd's Pie. You can also bake or fry these potato swirls for an over-the-top treat. (Mine broke after a year, if that says anything about the quality...but I just taped it up and use it anyways since the "warranty" is expired).

Their batter bowl is great...you can make and bake almost anything in it, and it doubles as a Barbie skirt for doll-cakes.

I was not impressed with my peeler...it rusted within a couple months.

The pizza stone and pizza cutter is amazing (my friend has been using hers for 3 years now), but I don't make pizza enough to use it...and I don't like that if you make different things on it (like fish, then cookies), it absorbs and imparts the remaining odor and smell.

HTH!

Just an FYI--that item has been redesigned. The problem Larissa had is common with the older decorators and it shouldn't happen with the new one.

I have several stones and have had them for years. None have any kind of odor or smell.

I was a PC consultant for long enough to 'outfit' my kitchen, so we have a lot of stuff. ;)

The small and large batter bowls are indispensible in our kitchen.

We have lots of the stoneware and love it all, but the pieces that get the most use are the round pizza stone (used for cookies and biscuits more than pizza - although I wish I had the square one), the deep dish baker and the 9x13 rectangular baker.

For gadgets, we use the all-purpose spreader a lot, the mini tart shaper along with the mini muffin pan (great for tiny quiches), and the mini whipper. Oh, and the twixit clips are very useful.

If you make any type of juice from frozen concentrate, I highly recommend the pitcher that has a handled plunger. You just give the handle on the lid a pull or two and everything is nicely mixed. No need to shake anymore, which is good in a household like ours where DH had a habit of not sealing the container back up all the way after using it!

I fourth or fifth the love of the large and small batter bowls. Also the adjustable measuring spoon (goes from 1/4 to 1 teaspoon, the poultry shears, and the set of miniature cookie cutters are great for cutting cheese or sandwiches into fun shapes for lunches.

I second the recommendation for the Quick-Stir pitcher! I also love their can opener - no sharp edges on the cans or lids for little fingers. The ice cream scoop is also nice...I've heard wonderful things about the stoneware but don't have any myself.

I have some stoneware I got a few years ago and really like it. I haven't had an issue with smells sticking behind, but it does get discolored as you use it, so if that bugs you, stoneware might not be the best bet. Recently I got the best measuring cups, they're the set of three measuring cups (1 cup, 2 cups and 4 cups) that are sort of angled. When you pour liquids into them you can see from the top what amount you're at, instead of having to crouch down and look from the side. I don't have the catalog anymore, so can't remember what they're called! I also second, third or fourth the recommendation for the bamboo spoons/spatulas. Another surprisingly great find was the bread knife. It's fantastically sharp and works great for bread, angel cake, you name it... Hmm, what else, also love the powdered sugar shaker. That's all I can think of right now.

I am going to be broke after tonight! I have not updated my kitchenware very much since Jude was born. Too bad most of it is gathering dust. Maybe this it he motivation I need to get moving again.

I know where to go for things after tonight's party too, thanks!
