Sams Club Questions!

1) Can you walk around w/o a membership card?

2) Is there a cafe? If so, do you need a card to eat there?

We're going to be near a Sam's store tomorrow and thinking we might stop in and grab lunch :-)

I don't think they will let you in the store without a membership card. They will let you have a "guest pass" to shop for the day, but they add a 6% surcharge to your bill.

Some Sam's have a snack bar, others don't. In my experience, they only have hot dogs, pizza, pretzels. I would never stop at Sam's just to eat lunch.

If you were able to get in with a guest pass, you could probably buy food at the snack bar w/o paying a surcharge, b/c they don't make you show your card there.

1. You have to show your card to get in the door. However, I usually barely flash mine and they wave me in. If you were questioned, you could just say you lost yours and were on your way to the CS desk.

2. I've never had to show my card to buy anything at the cafe. But, it's been years since we've bought anything other than a drink (you can buy the cup at checkout and fill it on your way out) so I don't know if there policy has changed.

LOL, Laura! DH and Ellie ate lunch at the cafe today (we needed a few things at Sam's). I think you could get a day pass--I'm not sure you need a card to eat at the cafe. At ours, they have pizza, pretzels, cookies, etc. It is dirt cheap and DH and Ellie love the pizza; he's always looking for an excuse to eat there, LOL!

DH & DS usually get lunch together at Costco (pizza, pretzal, etc), so i'm thinking it's going to be along those lines. I think we'll check it out and see...there's other options nearby in case there's nothing in Sams.

Not sure where you live, but they have stopped asking for cards at the door at the two I visit. It seems like it was sometime this year. You do have to have one to check out, but not to buy food.
