The practive of midwives I go to under the direction of a high risk OB that I CAN'T STAND, want me to submit to another ultrasound plus weekly NST's before I have this baby.

I did this (under huge protest) for DD and saw no reason for it. It did nothing to change the outcome of her birth. It did however, eat into the precious time that I could have spent with her at home after she was born. Plus, I continue to be overly concerned about the amount of ultrasound exposure she was receiving.

So, I have to come armed to my next appointment with knowledge about my clotting disorder. I am also looking for some basis of reason behind this request for testing.

Any good sites you can recommend? That a very pompous high risk OB would listen too?

Thanks!

Christy:

Here are a few professional web sites that may offer some insights. I did not completely read through all of the sites, but I have read a lot about clotting disorders in my nursing journals I get, so it is a pretty well researched topic. Also, Duke University has done some research, and it may be worth your while to check their website out. Also, some infertility clinics/specialists may have some information as well.

Hope this helps, good luck!

You can also search on www.pubmed.com and get abstracts to most of the major medical journals.

ETA: if you find anything promising that you'd like to have in its entirety, let me know and I'll see if I can get you the full article. DH has access to all of the major journals from home right now through his school account. I owe you one anyway and would love to help :)

ETA again: there is also research here:

Great Links Heather! I actually have the opposite of Hemophilia, mild APS antiphosolipid syndrome causing thrombosis that likely caused my first three pregnancies to end in miscarriage around 12 weeks.

Beth- Thank you for the offer! Once I have more time to read through all the links you and Heather provided and do some searches, I will let you know if I need anything. :)

ETD: APS not APL, duh

Sounds great! If you find anything that looks worthwhile, let me know and it is likely I'll be able to get the full article. I'd be happy to help :)

Good luck.
