My Sony Cybershot is suddenly not reading memory sticks. I have tried 3 different ones and it isn't reading any of them. I can still turn it on and off. The timing sucks as I am taking off on a trip in a few days.

Has anyone has this happen? Are Dig camera's fixable?

ps. DS has manhandled the camera a few times but it was working after his last interaction.

1) Make sure they are right side up (sorry, but you never know!)

I think digital camera's are fixable but IMO it's not usually worth it $$ wise when you see what else is out there...unless of course it's a super pricey camera!

I'd try a drop of alcohol on a swab to clean the "reader" portion in the camera (or maybe some canned air/vacuum action if you can't reach it with a swab). Could be just a piece of fuzz or some dust/dirt that's interfering with the reading of the sticks.

there is a little "switch" on memory sticks that you can lock. It's on the back and says "lock".

thanks all. I might take it in to a camera place. Not sure where the "reader" portion is. It would be nice if it is an easy fix.

Nope, none of the sticks are locked and they are in the right way. I am so not ready to buy a new camera.
