I took a Hypbobirthing class for my son almost 3 years ago. It was based on the Mongan method but didn't follow it strictly. I am pregnant again and want to use a hynobirthing method again but don't have the time to take a 5 week class again. Between my DH crazy work schedule a finding a baby-sitter for my son, it isn't feasible. I've found 3 home-study options on-line. Can anyone reccomend any of the three? Or another one?

I did Hypnobirthing (Mongan) for DS's birth, but my instructor did an extra CD on her own (she created it in her studio) to supplement the Hypnobirthing materials.

If we ever conceive another little one, I'd probably do Hypnobabies as a self study refresher. I've heard all positive things about it. Most people seem to like it better than the Mongan version of Hypnobirthing, although I was very happy with Mongan for DS's birth.

I don't have much knowledge of the other two, but I've definitely heard good things about the Hypnobabies program.

Good luck! How awesome that you are getting to do it all over again :)

I took the courses from a Mongan certified instructor. But, I just didn't care for the Mongan visualizations. So, I also ordered Hypnobabies. I prefered them over Mongan's audio stuff. FWIW.

I didn't get a chance to "try it out" because DD ended up being VERY breech (heart-shaped uterus, she wouldn't move after a medical version or tons of home attempts) and we had a c-section.

Another psuedo-hypno story - I was explaining the whole concept to a friend, and she exclaimed, "So-and-so hypnobirthed and didn't know it!" A friend of hers was a serious long distance runner. During her labor, she was hooked up to a beeping monitor. During the bad contractions, she "ran" in her head to the beat of the monitor. It helped her get through the pain. I am SOOOOO not a runner, but I loved this visualiztion because I could understand it. (The Mongan ones were very alternative and I just couldn't get into them as much I as knew I should.)

HTH, a bit.

I took Hypnobirthing classes (Mongan) and also purchased the Hypnobabies home study materials. Although I can the actual classes are wonderful for going over labor and what to expect, for actual hypnobirthing, I much preferred the Hypnobabies materials.
