Does anyone have one they really like? Or a consumer reports subscription and can name a couple that are good?

Our printer needs a new cable and it will take 10 days to get here. I have invoices and shipping labels that need printed!! ACK! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Oh and black and white only, we have an all in one that will function just fine as soon as I can get the silly cord in.

Thanks!

HP 1012. We use a ton of them at work and they are fantastic. I think Staples has a really good special this week, around $129? Otherwise it's definitely < $200.

HP recommendation here also. I used to buy the higher end models when I worked for a software company.

Looks like the 1012 recommended by the PP may be an older model, it would have been replaced by the 1020. http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/product_detail.do?storeName=storefronts&landing=printers&category=laserjets_bw&subcat1=entry_level&catLevel=2&product_code=Q5911A%23ABA

ETA - here's a good deal at CompUSA. http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=320283&pfp=cat3

You can't just get a new cable at any store? Or is it built-in / something special? Just confused about why you need to wait 10 days for a cable... :) Most recent printers can use the old screw-in huge printer cables or USB's, which are super easy to get.

HP's are great. My husband has a Ricoh that prints tabloid size (11x17). We got a great deal on it and its been awesome. The toner lasts forever.

We always rely on the reviews at www.cnet.com (I find the user reviews to be especially helpful). Check it out if you have time.

We have an older HP PSC 500 that you need to actually order the cable from HP. Trust me we've tried 5 different cables yesterday/today and none have worked. Has to be USB compatible for the Mac we have and the laptop. Very frustrating.
Thanks for the advice though, I think we will be going with an HP again, even in light of this cable business.
