The ones we use are from the 1960s. I'm looking for something egalitarian, that is inclusive of men and women. That has gender neutral language. That has modern language, not archaic "Bible" English. Some Hebrew, some English. Nothing that's crazy long. When I look online, it's hard to get a sense of what's inside. And I don't want to buy 10 copies, only to return them. Anyone have one they love?

I think we have been using stained Maxwell House ones for years!! LOL! My mom (a cantor) is coming into town, so I'll ask her for suggestions. One thing I saw advertised at our Reform Temple is a Haggadah that can be personalized with your family name on the front cover. From the picture, it looked very nice. Maybe someone else knows what I'm talking about. I'll try to do a little research, and ask my mom and then re-post.

I picked up a Haggadah by Elie Wiesel about 10 years ago and it turns out it's the one that DH's mom had gotten around the same time. I think it's beautiful. I went to check if it meets some of the criteria you mentioned, but I can't find it right now. Here's an amazon link to it.http://tinyurl.com/7z4s2 I really do like it.

I had the info. right here all along...

"The Promise Haggadah"

it says, "The Promise Haggadah" is a forever keepsake for your family. It offers a complete, beautiful and consise Passover service for everyone. It is written so children can understand the passover concepts and it appeals to adults.

It is offered by the Temple gift shop -- maybe you can check and see if yours sells this - or can get you can copy to look at.

Thanks for the link. This is the first sentence "This is the bread of affliction which our forefathers ate in the land of Egypt." That's what I'm trying to avoid. I'll have to look into that Promise one.

Not quite what you are looking for, but this is my FIL's hagaddah - it is done in the style of Dr. Seuss and was written for my DH when he was a young boy. It makes seders more fun when we read from it alongside the grown-up hagaddahs:

Thanks for posting this topic, Cara. It was a great idea--I definitely need to spice up sedar this year as I am hosting.

I just e-mailed the questions to DS' preschool teacher. Hopefully, she'll have some suggestions--I'll let you know.

I use the maxwell house ones too! I will need to get some better ones in the next year or so when DD can understand it more...

This is the Haggadah I grew up with - egalitarian, pretty, and you can make it relatively short. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0916694054/ref=ase_lorismishmashhumA/104-3544555-2810329?s=books&v=glance&n=283155&tagActionCode=lorismishmashhumA

Here's a link to a lot of different children/family Haggadah's - you might find something you like here, too. I've used a couple of them, and THINK they're gender neutral, but not positive. I'll try to check the ones we have at home.
