My 18 month old DD eats her fruit servings each day as snacks. I really like to give her something from the "Bread, etc." group with it, but I am having problems thinking of things.

So far here is what I have been giving her.

Kashi Crackers
Goldfish
Cheerios or Mighty Kicks (I think that is the name...)
Cereal Bars

She's pretty tired of these items, so any suggestions would really be appreciated!

TIA
R.W.

DS loves toast. I give him toasted whole wheat bread with a little yogurt spread. And kashi waffles (or eggo nutrigrain) are always a hit too.

You'll probably find a wealth of suggestions in the Feeding forum--just do a search for snack ideas (AND) and a bunch of threads should pop up. That said, here are some ideas, since Kaya is a carb lover. :)

Bagel toast--we just take bagels, slice it up, put butter on it and toast it. She loves these.
Barbara's Puffin Cereal
Kashi Mighty Bites
TJ's Oyster Crackers (love these!)
Veggie Booty
Pirate Booty
Goldfish (as you've already mentioned)
Toast (she likes the minitoast from TJ's or WF's)
Most other crackers
"Daddy's cereal" (a variety of granola cereals, most with dried fruit)
Waffles (frozen or toasted--she'll ask for "cold" if she wants them frozen)

Hmm...that's all I can think of for now

Okay, this is embarrassing - I have wondered about Veggie Booty for over a year and I keep forgetting to ask. What is it and where can I find it??

Thanks!
Stephanie

P.S. DS loves toast with butter, yogurt or even cream cheese. He still eats Cheerios and Kashi Mighty Bites and has (unfortunately?) discovered goldfish. Lately I tear up a whole wheat pita and he loves that with either cheese or fruit.

veggie booty is like a healthy version of puffy cheetos. I think it is puffed corn with vegetable flavorings, and i love it. In fact, I am craving some at this moment.

Here in Fla, you can find it at wild oats and whole foods.

We do a lot of the same things PPs mentioned...here are some other ideas:

We give DS bagels, but I give him sprouted wheat bagels (w/ butter or cream cheese or a little avocado spread on it)

Sprouted Wheat tortillas (can find at places like Whole Foods) with cream cheese and rolled up. These can also be cut into "pinwheels."

Pancakes-whole wheat with blueberries or pumpkin. These can be reheated in the toaster and given as a snack.

Whole wheat pasta...just cook extra when you make dinner and use as a snack. Sometimes we top with a little butter and nutritional yeast, which has a cheesy taste and provides B vitamins.

I don't give DS much in the way of crackers or pretzels, and I don't give him much cereal if I can avoid it (I offer lots of other things first). He had an early cavity at 18ish months and stickier starches like those are really not great for his teeth so we try to minimize them when we can.

Yup. Veggie booty is puffed corn, but has spinach and Kale in it. On the days when Kaya hasn't been having as much green stuff, I'll pull it out and count it as one of her servings, :P. You can also get it at TJ's and some grocery stores. From the same makers, I've tried Veggie Booty, Pirate Booty, the one that is regular cheese puffs (not that much different from Pirate, IMO) and Tings, which I really love.

Oh, and I forgot--when I make burritos, Kaya really likes the tortillas. She'll eat them if there's a little "contamination" from the various cheeses, but not if there are chunks of things in it. Makes me think maybe I should try cheese quesadillas.

Wow these are all really great ideas! I am making notes.

We make French Toast sticks in bulk and keep them in the freezer. I pop them in the toast oven.

We like the honey wheat sticks from Trader Joe's. Also there are several cereals at Trader Joe's which Ds likes.
