I have a two year old and a puppy....oh and I'm 32 weeks pregnant! I need something to help me keep the wood floors picked up around the table from cracker crumbs, etc... the dirt from around the plants and so on...I really want to avoid all the bending over and getting the vacumn out 20 times a day! Do you know of any good broom vacs or anything easy, portable, and more convenient than the vacumn?

My mom has one of these (actually she has an older model with no light)... got it for Christmas and LOVES it!

Try the swiffer sweep n' vac. It works great and I use in on our hardwood floors all the time. You should be able to find it at Target, Walmart etc.

I have the Eureka Stick Vac (yellow-also sold as the Quick Up) with a revolving brush that can be turned on and off for the few area rugs in my kitchen and foyer (as half the downstairs is my kitchen, foyer, bath and laundry room...which are tiled). Instead of sweeping, I just run that sweeper and it picks EVERYTHING up, then I mop. It's especially handy b/c we have a shoes-off house for everywhere but the tile, so a lot of dirt gets tracked into the foyer (and the shoes pile up there...so dirt flakes off freely).

Anyways, I really like it. It's a tad noisy, but so are many vacuums. It's a good price, too. BB&B, Kmart and other houseware stores have them.

We have this, too, and I love it. An added bonus is that both boys love to use it as well and help keep things tidy!
