Carson's not napping. I'm at my computer with my back to the door. He came in and I said "Mr. Carson, don't you think you need a nap?"

His reply "Dr. Carson."

(I looked back and he had his play stethescope around his neck.)

Two days ago, Amelia spent all morning looking out the french doors in our family room (we spend most of our time there) and saying, "'side mommy, 'side?" and "bye byes?" We don't usually go out in the morning so I though we were doing pretty good when we left around 11:30 to run errands. Amelia went running up to the car, threw her arms around it (well, as much as you can do that to a car, lol) and said with great joy and longing, "Oh, car, CAR!" It was like she had finally found her long lost friend. I laughed quite a lot over that one and she had a great time running around town.

Last night DH left his empty glass on the end table, DD walked over and started to "drink" from it. DH looks at DD and says "Excuse You! That's Daddy's glass!" then takes the glass from her. DD shoots back "Excuse YOU!"

Ahh, the wonderful things he is teaching her. She said "Excuse YOU!" over and over until she went to bed last night.

Great timing! I just sat down last night and wrote down some of the funny things dd's been saying lately because I know I'll forget them with time. :(

Some recent funnies:

DD, my sis, and I are in dd's room playing "eat soup" (that means cooking and eating her pretend food ;)) and my sister and I are chit-chatting while we wait for our food to cook, then cool so we can "eat". Kylee says "no you talk! no you talk to my mommy 'chelle. Just eat soup!"

I've always had a habit of singing little songs about the task at hand to help dd along, but apparently I've done it more often than I realize. Lately she's started saying "you sing me about 'clean up'" or "you sing me about 'my mommy's home'". Too cute! :)

I love these threads. Everyone's stories are so cute!

Heh, heh, there must be something in the air today. Kaya had her birthday party this morning and she did NOT take a nap. She spent just over an our in her crib rearranging her animals and then tossing them in one corner saying to them in a very firm voice, "Go to sleep!!!"

Julie, that's hysterical!!! Love it!

My DS isn't saying a whole lot yet, but the other day...

I always say "do you want a bite?" when I'm feeding him. I *think* this started as him trying to say bite. Unfortunately, it morphed into "but"! It's not exactly something that I intended to teach him, but it's so stinkin' cute that we keep encouraging it. He sticks his tongue out at the end, so it sounds kind of like, "BUT-th". Makes us laugh every time!

DD is great with "Excuse me". Sort of. As in, she gets into the car, carrying a stuffed puppy. She transfers the puppy carefully from hand to hand to get buckled in, but then wants her hands free to do something else with. She says "Scuse me!" to the puppy, and sits on its head.

The other day, I was in the front seat, talking to somebody on the phone, and DH was amusing DD in the backseat. They played for a while, and then had this conversation:
DH: How about "This little piggy"?
DD: No.
DH: No?
DD: I busy right now.

Since you brought up naps, I'll share how finn napped this past weekend. His "naps" consisted of him spending an hour jumping up and down in his crib yelling "Yoohoo, mama, look at me, weee! Yoohoo mama I made a mess [upon throwing everything out of the crib] Yoohoo, Yoohoo, mama, look at me..."

The other day when DH was oohing and aahing about how great he is doing hitting the baseball finn replied to him "because I'm growing up daddy."

I love excuse me too. Amelia says excuse me when she has the hiccups. Goes something like this:

Hiccup
Amelia: "oh, scuse me"
hiccup
"oh, scuse me"
Me: "it's okay. You don't have to say excuse me every time."
hiccup
"scuse me, oh, it's awright."

This will go on until the hiccups are gone-sometimes a very long time. She's also really good at answering herself. She'll bump into you or something and say, "I sorry. It's awright, it's awright." I'm glad she's so polite but it cracks me up.

Dr. Carson, I presume? LOL! I love it.

DD knows when I get home from work that it is time for "nursies". Today before I could even sit down, she grabbed the boppy and toddled over to my chair. As far as she was concerned, I was dawdling. :-)

So Sweet!

The other day i put avi to bed for the night and when i put him into his crib i handed him his elmo and said, here is elmo and he goes "hi elmo". It was so sweet!

Yesterday my sister was getting dressed for work in the morning and avi was hanging out with his dad in his bedroom and he walked over to my sisters room and knocked on the door and said "mommy" she said yes avi, and he said "outside". He would stay outside all day if he could, he continues to walk to the door and say outside until you take him.

One of the little girls (15 months) in our playgroup had a very bad diaper rash recently. Her mother, while bathing her, commented, "Oh, look at your baboon bum!". The little girl walked around for the rest of the week saying "bab-oon bum! bab-oon bum!!". TOO funny!
