I noticed mia had stringy mucuous in her bm last nite. Her poop is normall runny...which seems a little weird to me. She normally has 1 bm but about a month ago she was having diarrhea like poops so my ped told me to switch from gentlease formula to lactose free. She then started having the 1 runny bm a day which they said was normal. I think I have noticed stringy poop before but that could have been when I was supplementing and bfeeding.....I normally don't scrutinize her poop that much b/c she normally has a bm during the nite....and sometimes DH changes her at nite so he doesn't really notice. What could mucousy bm mean? A friend told me it could be a food allergy indicator....going to call my ped this am.

Possibly and allergy. Has she been on antibiotics recently. It could be a condition called C Diff. We had to deal with this a lot with Jackson. We never figured out the exact cause of the mucus but probiotics always helped clear it right up.

The nurse said it could be congestion and she has been congested this week.

BTW, Tara I know this is too late now but I was remembering your situation w/ the rotovirus and I remember that when Diego has it, we were told to give him special formula to stop the diarrhea. I think it was Isomil DF....sorry it is too late to help. I have been in a daze the last few weeks and I think my brain is finally working.
