I'm trying to sell my house and need have the downstairs painted a nice neutral color. I'm horrible at choosing paint colors and was hoping some of you might have suggestions of paint colors you love or have gotten a lot of compliments on. We're thinking of something like oatmeal or a pretty beige. :)

Thank you!

We used benjamin moore Bar harbor beige. I love the color. Looks great during the day and night.

Thank you! It looks very pretty online. I'll have to check it out in the store, too.

I'd love any other suggestions from others. :)

We used Behr's "Chino" in eggshell enamel (it's a scrubbable/washable low lustre latex sheen) in our office and hallways. It's so peaceful and serene. Not only is Behr one of the easiest paints to paint with, it's also rated #1 by Consumer Reports for durability, color saturation, and one-coat application. I might even be able to post a pic of the color in my house.

You can preview it on http://www.behr.com/behrx/workbook/ if you start the colorsmart program and search by name, but frankly I didn't think it looked too much like it looks IRL. So, here's what it looks like in our home office. I deliberately tried to capture it in natural daylight and w/ overhead lights to show you that paint can look different in all sorts of lighting. I think it's a soothing and very natural color, though, that looks great w/ a stark white trim. FYI, the top pic is w/ overhead light and bottom w/ natural daylight.
