This is a long shot but you never know... I live upstate NY about 25 miles south of Albany. We just moved here and I don't have an OB/GYN yet. I was hoping to get opinions about which is a good hospital to deliver and maybe some suggestions for good OB/GYNs. I would like to go to a birth center but according to my insurance there are none covered in the area.

Hi-

Welcome! I live right outside Albany too! I delivered at St. Peters. I had a complicated pregnancy and had serveral stays in the antepartum unit and the staff there are wonderful. There is also a (level I? whatever is the highest level) NICU there in case something goes wrong, and 24 hour anethesia. The only other hospital in the area with a NICU and 24 hours anethesia is Albany Med.

I also really loved my OB- I go to Albany OB/GYN- 489-3296. There are 4 OBs there who deliver. They only deliver at St. Peters. Dr. Kimble is my absolute favorite (he delivered my daughter). He is hands down the most caring, wonderful doctor I have ever been to. The other doctors are great too, but Dr. Kimble is my favorite.

There are certain doctors and hospitals I would avoid. Definitely E-mail me if you have any other questions.
