DH and I will be flying with DS for the first time next month. I saw in a previous post that people have checked in their pack and play as baggage when flying. Question is, did you put the pack and play in some kind of special bag? We have the bag that came with the PNP, but it is pretty thin. Is this sufficient?

TIA!

We've checked the PNP in its original bag a couple of times without any problems. However, we only had the mattress and structure, none of the "extras" like bassinet, changing station, etc. so it was pretty much as light as possible.

Have a great trip!

We have checked the PnP, just in the bag that comes with it. It came through without any problems. Hope you have a good trip!

Checked the PNP in the bag that comes with it. ATA broke the zipper and refused to replace it, saying that they are not liable for those types of things.

You can buy a replacement bag from Graco, but I haven't needed it.

I know others have put the PNP inside a large duffel and have fared better than I.

We've flown with it in a big black heavy duty trash bag, a duffel, and alone with the original bag (usually when I run out of time packing) and I like the duffel best. I didn't like not having some kind of cover since I was afraid it would be damaged or get really dirty, which hasn't happened but it only flew that way maybe twice.

ETA: The security at a couple of airports I've flown out of asked me to remove the plastic bag so they could see inside. I carried a roll of packaging tape to tape it back up afterward.

They broke our zipper too. We have not traveled by air since so I have not replaced it yet. The duffel idea sounds great.

We have a big rolling duffel bag we packed it in - also had lots of extra room to pack diapers, etc. around it. Because it rolled, made it much easier to get around the airport, too.

We checked ours and it arrived ripped. I would definitely use a duffel type bag next time.

Last time I flew with ours, I checked it in a large duffle bag I ended up having to buy from British Airways at one point. (I had to buy it for a totally different reason from the PnP, it just happens to work really well for it.) I did end up putting other things in the bag as well, but it worked out really well - there was no damage to the PnP or anything else in the bag, for that matter. :)

When we got ours back from baggage claim on one trip, the zipper was broken on the bag. It's expensive to replace them! Since then, I ask for a big, clear plastic bag from the airline. Once the airline did not have any, but usually they do. I like the duffel idea and plan to use that in the future. Have a great trip!
