Any advise on how to remove pilling from sweaters? I'm afraid to use a razor for fear of cutting the fabric.

In the past I've used one of those little battery operated sweater shavers. Sort of like this one:

The one I used to have was very similar to that one. I actually need to buy a new one, as I haven't a clue as to what happened to the last one. But in my experience, the sweater shavers like that are easy to use and I've not yet managed to cut the fabric with one. (I'm not even sure it's possible to do so with one of those.) They work really well in removing pilling from sweaters.

There are other manufacturers also; I don't recall where I got mine. They are frequently found wherever knitting supplies are sold.
