I posted a week or so ago about my 3yo DS being very active, well, we ran in a 5k (3.1 miles) today to support NF and he ran the ENTIRE thing!!! Every time I asked him if he needed to take a break and ride in the stroller or walk, he would say "No mom, gotta run!" We would get near someone in front of us and he would say "Mom, we need to pass them." Then, we would pass them and he would say "We did it!! Let's go, go, go!!"

One lady remarked that she could not believe she was being passed by a 3 yo! We had teenage boys running with him for a minute and cheering him on and at every stop along the way, all the volunteers would cheer for him and that really pumped him up!

I am so proud of my little Forrest Gump! We bought him a kids treadmill so that he can run when it rains and/or we just can't take him to the track!

Hope you have a great weekend!

Whoa! That is amazing! I'm guessing we'll see him at the summer Olympics in 10 years, then? I'll keep an eye out for him. ;)

Mariah; I liked your original story so much I told it to two people, including my DH who is former sprinter and huge track and field fan. We call our girls "track star" as nicknames in our household. I will be showing him this link for sure and won't be surprised if my DD is in a fun run sometime soon. Daddy would ADORE it and me, well, I'm in favor of whatever tires her out!

What's a kid's treadmill?

Your DS looks adorable. Look at that arm action!

It's a treadmill for kids ages 3-8 (I think) that does not have a motor, so it cannot throw them off if they quit running. It goes only as fast as they do. It has a little odometer that keeps track of their time and distance and what-not. Here is the link we bought ours from: http://familyentertainment.ca/index.php?action=kidsfitness
They are selling them for $40 plus s/h (an additional $30!!). The cheapest I saw them aside from this was on amazon for $99 plus $25 s/h, so this works out better. We also are getting him the rowing machine and excersize bike, just to mix things up a little (so he won't get bored on just one thing). I figured that for that price, him sleeping through the night is well worth it!

Definatly put her in a fun run! We had a great time and it was for a good cause. After the run, they had a BBQ and gave out little prize bags (coupons, water bottles, frisbee, Oral-B toothbrush, etc). There were clowns and a moon bounce, and one of the local radio stations was broadcasting from the site. We are signed up for another one in May, but I hope to be able to find one a little sooner...maybe in April.

Perhaps our little runners will meet up in Olympic Village one day!!

That's so awesome! He must be so proud of himself! What a way to encourage a lifetime of health and self esteem. :)

I nannied for a long distance marathon runner whose 7 yr old DD started running half marathons at the age of 5. The mother even ran up until 8 months pregnant with her second (wowza!)...and her littlest DD is now running, too. I always admired their energy and healthy lifestyle.

Anyways, congrats to you all!

I am just so impressed! What a great way to tire an active toddler out. Maybe I should try something like this with my DS.

That's so great! I'll have to keep that in mind -- I have a similarly energetic two-year-old DS. In fact, I was going to reply to your previous post but then...I don't know...DS ran off somewhere and I had to chase after him! ;-)

That is the best story! WOW, He did amazing and the pictures of him running are adorable! What a handsome little man you have!

My son runs and hikes with us too, but we've never thought of trying a race! When he was one, we nick named him one mile Kael (pronounced like Kyle) because he'd run around the block with us..which was just shy of a mile.

that kid exercise equipment is hysterically cute! Have he used them yet?

Yeah!! That is so awesome!!

Make sure you tell him, "Way To Go!!" :)

My daughter ran a one-mile Fun Run when she was 2 yrs. old.
She had a great time! There was another little girl running
with her mom so we all ran together.
We were the last 4 runners to cross the finish line! :)

We have not gotten it yet, so I am pretty psyched! We also got the bike and rowing machine. I don't know who is more excited...him or me!!

Oh, and we finishe at least 30 minutes before the last person crossed the finish line!
