DH would like to buy me a watch as a little present for having our baby girl. I've been looking and found this Raymond Weil:

I love the idea of a pink watch (since I had a DD!), but I really don't own any pink clothes. This is totally impractical, I know. Please talk me into or out of it! :)

First of all, congratulations on your baby girl. And cudos (sp?) to your DH for getting you a nice watch. Personally, I love this watch. I think it's a neutral enough pink that you should not be concerned about it being pink IYKWIM. Also, I don't think the watch has to match the colour of your clothes, I'd be more concerned about how well it would work with your skin colour. For example, I have olive skin and I think it would be a nice contrast against it.
Also, I am wearing much more blue since I've had DS and a lot of my GFs who had girls are wearing more pink so you never know, you might begin to wear more pink too.

I just got a pink watch, it is so fun for spring. In fact I was looking at a Bulova chronograph with a pink face, but decided to get the white face since the pink face had a $75 higher price tag! Anyway, I digress....go for the pink!

Too cute! I think that is a WONDERFUL idea. Wish my DH had thought of that. :(
FWIW, I definitely wear more pink now that I've had a girl.... ;)

I have a Raymond Weil and I would NEVER get pink--the thought makes me cringe in a way, because it's such a gorgeous watch. It's a bit too trendy, IMHO. I think you should go for a RW that is a bit more classic. I think the thought is great, but it's just not practical and I'm all about practicality. For the money you're about to spend, I would go with something classically gorgeous that will not lose it's novelty. KWIM?
I would opt for something like earings or a mother ring that had your DD's birthstone, opposed to something like a watch.
JMHO...

i so love that watch and the pink is a light enough pink that it should go well with other things. i would get it in a heartbeat and i have two boys :P
what a wonderful husband that you have, i wish mine was more like him. ds #2 was born a few days befor mothers day and i asked him what he was going to get me and his answer was "you just got him isnt that enough for you for now"

I can't talk you out of it because I love it! I think it's gorgeous and while it may not be an every day watch, it's definitely something you'd get enough use out of to be worth it. I'd say go for it!

Wow, that's a gorgeous watch. But I agree with the pp who said that it's way too nice (and expensive) a watch to get in pink. I would get a Swatch or some other relatively inexpensive pink watch in a heartbeat, but would definitely go for classic for a watch like this.

I am not a pink person, but my initial reaction upon seeing the watch was "that is gorgeous, I would wear it!" I think it is very elegant with the pale pink and silver tone combination.
Go for it!

OMG that's beautiful!!! I just got a pink waych, but not of the RW caliber! Mine is a Skagen. I figured it was trendy, so I didn't need a long-lasting watch. (and I'm loving wearing it.) Can he get you the RW in a classic color and a Skagen, or similar, in pink?

Could you try to find a more classically colored face, then buy two bands, one pink and the other more neutral? I think the watch is great but would not spend big bucks on it unless I was completely sold that I would love it for a very long time.

I have two Raymond Weil watches - I really am a big fan. My first thought was, WOW that is gorgeous! Then I thought it is too nice of a watch to be pink - I would be afraid that I would get tired of it. Could you possibly get the watch with a white or mother-of-pearl face, and get a pink leather strap that can be switched out?
It is soooo pretty though...I guess I am absolutely no help.

Hmm, that's a good idea.
I know it's totally impractical, and I'm always SO practical. :)

Good for the soul to be a little impractical sometimes!

I think it's a sweet idea. Impractical? Maybe, but having sweet babies is pretty "impractical". An occasion like this definitely gives you a "pass" to be impractical if you'd like. That being said, there's no sense in being too impractical so hopefully you've checked overstock.com because they have that watch. Atleast then you get a decent deal. I think it's a piece that you will treasure forever and it will always make you think of your baby girl. :) Go for it.
Congrats!

YAY!!!! I think it is a gorgeous watch and you should definitely get it and enjoy it. While pink isn't "classic" in the same way black, brown, etc. are, pink is in style on a pretty regular basis and the shape is so classic that I think you will get a lot of use from it. If it was full price I might hesitate a bit (I have a closet full of black and navy "classic" handbags, etc.!), but for the overstock.com price, I would go ahead and enjoy it. It will look great with all sorts of colors for spring and summer. Great find!!
