Please, please pray for my cat.........

My sweet, loving, would-never-hurt-a-fly kitty is at the emergency vet, in intensive care, with heart failure. She faces an uncertain recovery. We are waiting on the cardiologist to come look at her tomorrow. Everything is up in the air - she could be fine and just need medication for the rest of her (hopefully long) life, or we could lose her. She is very scared, and so am I. This wasn't what we were expecting when we took her to the vet this morning.

Please pray for her. She is only three, and her gentle little soul deserves so many more years of petting and purring!

When I was little my three-year-old cat was rushed to the vet with heart failure. They told us he wouldn't live out day, then the week, then the month. He lived seven more years on heart medicine and had a very happy, healthy life until the day he passed.

I know it's hard -- my thoughts are with you!

Thank you everyone so much for all the good thoughts!

I went and saw my cat this morning before I went to work, and wow, what a difference! When I saw her last night, she was huddled in the back of the cage, not moving or responding to anything. This morning, they brought her into an exam room, and she jumped down from the tech's arms and ran around, stopping to rub my ankles and purr! I visited with her for about twenty minutes, and she was completely her old self, even turning over onto her back so I could scratch her belly. :)

We are still waiting to hear what the cardiologist says; we won't get that report until this afternoon. But it's a really great sign that she is acting so much better. She had her old mischievious glint in her eye. :)

Keep your fingers crossed for a good cardiology report today! I am grateful beyond words to be able to give such a hopeful update!

We got to take our little girlie home today, but she has a very uncertain future. :( The cardiologist diagnosed her with juvenile onset hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. He said she has the heart of a 200-year-old man. :(

We don't know how long she has to live. There is no way to know. She is on four different medicines, all with different doses and schedules. She could go on like this for a long while, or she could suddenly go downhill very fast and die. We just have to wait and see.

I am so sad and overwhelmed. She is truly the sweetest creature that has ever lived, and she deserves so much more. She was just born with a bad heart. :(

Please continue to keep us in your thoughts. We are going to try to give her the best possible life we can. We are truly thankful for every minute we will have with her.

The reason we got this particular cat was that when she was at the Humane Society, she was in a cage with three other kittens and they would all push her away when we tried to pet her. So we picked her up and took her home so no one would ever push her away again. :)

I was petting her last night and I started crying; she rubbed her face up against mine to wipe my tears away. :( I guess it's a blessing that she doesn't know what's going on, and is just living in the here and now. Maybe I need to learn to do the same.

Thanks again to everybody. It's nice to read such supportive thoughts.

How sad that her future is so uncertain. And what gift to be reminded to cherish each day that she graces your lives and your family.

I know from experience (too many I'd say) how incredibly difficult it is when the time comes to say goodbye to our cats and our dogs.

Just wanted to let you know that I am sending healthy kitty prayers your way. It is SO hard to have an ailing furry friend. No matter how long she is with you it sounds like she has a very happy and loving home, which is really all they want.
