We just moved to the city from the 'burbs and can't get my 18 month old to sleep well during naps & nighttime b/c of the noise from the street.

Any suggestions from city dwelling moms?

Thanks!

Both DD and I use white noise machines and oh boy are they wonderful! :)

We don't live in the city, but in an old creaky house, and the noise machine was a must have for DD. We bought one from Target for about $15 (Homedics brand) and it's traveled all around with us.

We have a CD of waves on repeat all night in DS room. Very similar effect to the white noise machine suggestions by previous posters. Also, do you have a streetlight shining in his window now? If so, room darkening shades/blinds might also be worth trying.

Good luck!

Thank you, Everyone!

I'm going to Target this evening to purchase a white noise machine...we'll try that first & then maybe go with the room darkening shades/blinds too!

I'm used to my little guy sleeping in until 7:30am, but right now he's up at 6am on the dot. He will also wake up through the night if there is alot of street traffic. I love living in the city, but boy does it have some drawbacks!

When you go to Target, look for the white noise machine near the makeup section, where they have makeup mirrors and lights. I looked all over the doggone store before I found mine there! We have really gotten our money's worth from the Homedics one; my kids now ask for their 'crickets' (the Summer Night setting) if I forget to turn theirs on. Hope it works for you. :-)
