to Honduras?

they are 3 and 4. I had planned on traveling without them, but as the date approaches, we think we would like to take them.

Does anyone know?

Yes, they'll each need a passport of their own. :)

Yes they will need a passport. Even if Honduras doesn't require minors to have passports to enter the country, the US requires minors to have a passport when departing from and arriving in the US.

If you need a passport likely they need one too. We had to get one for my son at 2 months :)

Yes. It is good for five years.
Here is the information sheet:

Rush passports are available for a little bit extra. They come within 2 weeks, I think. We had to get one for 2 year old ds prior to going to the Caribbean.

After 9/11, kids can no longer piggyback on their parents' passports.

If you are near a passport office and you have a ticket showing travel in the very near future (can't remember the exact timeframe) you can get a passport in 24 hours.

It's if you are traveling within 3 days. Last year I had to go to Singapore to visit my grandmother because she was ill and asking to see my son. We have a family friend who owns a travel agency -- I went to his office and got my itinerary (I was leaving 1 1/2 days after my mom called to ask me to come). I made an appt. with the Passport Agency for the next morning. We just had to show them the itinerary and give them the completed application and pictures (they won't accept a copy of the itinerary, they want to see the original from the travel agent). We picked up DS's passport 3 hours later and left that night.

Also keep in mind that both parents must be present when applying for a passport for a minor.

We also went to the passport office to get my dd's passport. We had to show evidence that we were traveling within two weeks. They issued the passport within an hour and we took it home that same day.
If you go this route, you do need to pay an expedite fee.
Also, you need an appointment as you can not make one more than two weeks before your date of departure. I called the first day I was able and ended up with an appointment about a week before we were dus to leave. The next available appointment was two days before, which just made me too nervous. I don't know where you ive, but keep in mind they do not have these offices in every city.
