My in-laws live in a rapidly growing community with hundreds of families with small children. They are attending an enormous yard sale this weekend and will shop for DS.

What items should they look for? DS will soon be two and I would love to save some money (and the planet) by getting some things second hand.

I would appreciate any advice!!!

I would look for:

clothes (usually really cheap at these sales)
tricycle or bike with training wheels
sand/water table
sandbox & sandbox toys
Outdoor plastic play structure (perhaps in good enough condition to use inside) with slide
Play lawnmower & outdoor tools to use with daddy
trucks, trucks, trucks and more trucks
Easel
Play tool bench
Play kitchen

Definitely outside toys. They are dramatically cheaper than brand new. Especially things like Little Tykes sandboxes or slides. You may find some good clothes for cheap (I don't seem to have the best luck on this one. Maybe I'm kinda picky, but they always seem really worn)

We also look for puzzles, games and books. Books are kinda hard because I don't feel like I can properly sterilize them (board books are a little easier) but I buy them anyway!

Good luck and have fun!

That's nice of them!

I'd go for the big stuff

-Kettler
-sandbox
-wooden cars, trucks, blocks
-a bike trailer!!!(I'm buying one full price this weekend-ouch!)
-any furniture he may need (bookcases, toy bins, etc)
-adult sized hand drums
-croquet set
-wagon
-books
-easel
