My brither gave me a cute little bamboo plant for Mothers day and I am scared I will kill it.
It's less than a foot tall, in a ceramic pot with pebbles and water. Right now I have it on the shelf in the bathroom because that is the only place that neither dd nor the cats could get to it.
So what should I do to care for this thing? Does it need sun? Should I water it? DO I have to plant it in a pot or something?
I am so clueless.

The great thing about a bamboo plant is that it's one of the easiest plants to take care of. All you need to do is give it some indirect sunlight and water. That's it! You don't need to put it in a bigger pot at all, until it gets super big, but that can take many years. If you notice the water getting cloudy, just pour out the old water, and put in fresh water.

I had a friend who moved from Vancouver to Boston and her bamboo plant got accidentally packed in a box and was in the moving van for 2 weeks. It was still alive! I think it's hard to kill, which is good for me! It doesn't need soil... just water every once in a while.
