3-yr-old DS had his first dentist's appt. this week when they just talk to him, look at his teeth, etc. However, both the hygenist and dentist got me a little worried b/c they pointed out his serious underbite. They made it sound like it was skeletal and not just dental and that he might need surgery when he gets older to correct it... My DH (and his whole family) has terrible teeth (mine are fine) and they said it's probably genetic...

I was just curious if anyone had experience with this - can they really know at age 3? Is it possible that it could correct itself when he gets his adult teeth? I know that his lower jaw definitely protrudes, however...

Thanks for any help!
