What do you think is better: Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune?

; ) Let's not get sucked into another board war, mamas. It seems debate over hurt feelings always leads to more hurt feelings. I'm sending out a huge hug to all the BBB mamas. Please let's remember the important things in life.

Now: Which is better?

Lingo on the GSN wins hands down at our house. ;-)

Well, Wheel is more fast paced, and it's fun to try and guess the puzzle. On the other hand, I used love playing Trivial Pursuit, and Jeopardy is kind of like that. It's always fun when they have a topic that is in my field.

I really can't stand Alex Trebek - he is so yawn-inducingly boring as a host(JMO - I wouldn't want this to turn into a real debate :)). I think Pat Sajak is loads more interesting and intelligent than Alex Trebek (who has been known to make some of the most insipid comments when talking to the contestants). Pat usually has a witty comeback which it makes it much more fun to watch the wheel.
So the Wheel gets my vote.

I don't know what is more entertaining: the idiot contestants on Wheel or the geeks on Jeopardy!

Jeopardy has three TIVO thumbs up in our house and Wheel of Fortune has three big thumbs down. ;) I can't stand the contestants on WOF at all--just too cheesy-cheery for me!

You're so cute! Thanks for the morning chuckle.

FWIW Alex is acting like a real pompous know-it-all lately ;)

Lol, funny thread. I'm a huge Jeopardy fan but I can't stand Trebek either. He is so condescending to the female contestants, especially the SAHMs. Misogynisitic pig! But I still love the show. Can't stand WOF but DH likes making fun of the idiot contestants.

Jeopardy, it's so tricky with that "phrase your answer as a question" bit.
If we are watching mindless TV we have gotten into "Deal or No Deal". Stupid, but easy to watch and criticize!

WOW! Are Jeopardy and Wheel *still* on TV? I was sure both shows would have gone to game show heaven by now!

Ita that Trebec comes off as a real ass. I think he tries (unsuccessfully) to make witty comments and in the process says some very nasty things. It surprises me that he has had such success as a gsh, as his people skills are lacking.

LOVE Wheel. Always thought I would win big if I could get on the show. I don't watch anymore though since the TV is not on when the kids are around unless it is a kids show.

I can't watch Jeopardy b/c I think Alex is a jerk.

I'm not a big fan of either, but if I were forced to watch one or the other, I'd pick Jeopardy! I can't stand the contestants on WOF, they're always way over-perky.

Neither, I haven't watched a gameshow since I was a kid. I think I used to like the Gong Show and The Price is Right but that was so long ago.

I do like board games like Pictionary and MadGab (I think that's what it's called) but I haven't played a game in several years.

Nowadays I play with stacking toys, board puzzles, sorting shapes and my favorite the pop up circus. ;)

BTW, I am so grateful that we are so different, I get a lot of good advice that way. I think we're all experiencing the same great adventure and experience: Motherhood. It's hard to magine what our moms and grandmothers did without the BBB? I'm glad all of you are here.

Good one, Alicia. I seriously clicked on this thread because I wanted to express my opinions about Wheel v.s Jeopardy. I did NOT click on it because of the warning. Now, why I would do such a thing? If I get carried away and am a short fuse away from blowing up every time I get into a debate with others. No, not me.

:)

We watch Wheel of Fortune some times during dinner because we don't have cable/satellite and it's a game that DS1 can participate in and sometimes is good at. I did feel uncomfortable when my 3.5 yelled out "Make Big Money" when watching Wheel of Fortune...

Oh, since I am sure this thread is going to get too heated and will be locked up soon, this picture may come in handy: ;-)

I have not seen either in about 10 years but I have fond memories of watching Jeopardy with my grandfather everyday when I stayed twith him the summer before he died. He loved Jeopardy and Texaco gas stations (go figure) so I have a soft spot for both.

Well, my water broke while watching Wheel of Fortune so there will always be a soft spot in my heart for that show. However, now DS loves to watch Jeopardy with DH and the way he lights up and squeals "daily double" is SO cute.

I guess I'm torn!

I personally prefer Jeopardy. I can actually learn something from the show. DH and I love useless trivia!

We joke that he's got N-Z and I've got A-M covered in the Encyclopedia of Interesting but Irrelevant Facts.

Additionally, Pat Sajak always seemed a bit bitter, although I might be too if I had to stand on a box so as not to be dwarfed by the contestants. :P

WOF was cool when they had to "shop" at the end of each round and pick all those tacky things. And everyone had about $150 left at the end and had to buy the hideous ceramic dog. Plus the opening! "Look at this MARVELOUS studio, filled with FABULOUS prizes!" Now it's just boring and Vanna doesn't even have to turn the letters any more. Jeopardy (or better yet, SNL Celebrity Jeopardy Spoof) all the way!

ROTFLMAO! Good thing I didn't have a mouthful of Italian Ice when I saw the pic.

Funniest bit is that I know we have some thread lock lying around the house somewhere!
