What sort of blanket (if any) does your DC sleep with if they are still in their crib or a toddler bed? I ask because Liam is just about to outgrow his latest sets of sleep sacks and our house is fairly air conditioned and cool and so needs a blanket. When we registered, we simply got a cheapo blanket from Target (more for decoration) since we were never going to use a blanket for a baby and I forgot that they grow up (LOL!).

Anyway, I'm not thrilled with this blanket for sleeping and wanted to know if anyone out there had a recommendation. Look for something of high quality and comfort.

Thanks,

Laura :)

Taran is currently sleeping with a large flannel blanket a friend of my mother's made him when he was born. When that one gets dirty, we have another flannel blanket that someone else made him. So I suppose that doesn't really help you, but they seem similar material-wise to flannel sheets, they just are made of two layers instead of one.

I'm sure someday he'll need something different, so I'll be interested to see what others say. :)

When my daughter slept under a blanket in her crib, it was under one of a bunch of small quilts her grandmother has made for her. Mostly though she doesn't like to sleep under blankets and just wears pajamas. If you are worried about the cold, you could try the blanket sleepers, but DD usually wears the thinner cotton ones. Now she doesn't even like the footed ones.

i got DD a washable down throw (for $25 from Costco; but they're everywhere). i was going to get one of those down crib blankets i've seen in the company kids catalog, but they were so expensive i just decided that a throw was just a little bit bigger and way cheaper. i also figured if it didn't work out i could either keep it for my living room couch or take it back with costco's great return policy. i like down for myself because it's warm, but not too warm, and lightweight, so that's why i got it for DD too.

I put it in her crib just before her second birthday and it took her about a month before she would mostly keep it on (although lots of nights when i check on her she is on top of it, or her leg is out or it's half on and half off or whatever). before i got her the throw, she would not keep any blankets on, ever, so she slept in fleece footed zip up sleepers (onsie under that in winter). now that it's warmer AND she has a blanket, she's in cotton footed sleepers-- she doesn't always stay covered and her feet get cold. BTW, she's still in her crib.

she loves loves loves her "big fluffy blanket"!! when it's summer i'll probably be sorry i chose a down blanket... LOL!

anyway, hope that helps.

He's in a big boy bed now, but at that stage, we used fleece throw blankets. I found one with balls on it from Target and a plain red one. They're relatively cheap, warm and washable. I just received one of those washable faux shearling throws as present and that would have worked well too.
