Hi Everyone,

As you can all see from my signature, this is a subject close to my heart. I'm posting an email I received looking for stories to submit to try to gain media attention for CHD awareness. Sorry it's so last minute, but I figured maybe someone who has been affected would have a minute to jot something down to send in.

From: "Karin Coulter" <[email protected]>

Recently I received an email from a family that had been contacted by a reporter of a national magazine. The family was told that their child's story would be published in the magazine. Later they were told that their child's condition is too complicated for the direction their magazine is going. I have been brainstorming on what could be done and I have come up with an idea.

Many of us have written to magazines, Oprah and others in the media. No national action has been taken. Because of this I would like to ask each family (moms, dads, grandparents, friends, etc) to write their story and snail mail it to the address below. Make sure you sign the story and all your contact info (name, address, phone number and email address) is included. Please get these to me by June 1, 2006. After June 1, I will compile all the stories I have received and mail one large package to many national magazines and talk shows. Hopefully they will see the importance of CHD awareness and contact at least one of the families who have submitted a story.

You are welcome to send this to any heart families you know. I'm sure you know of families that are not on this list and we would like to have as many stories as possible. Please let me know if you have any questions.

P.S. It doesn't matter how minor or how severe your child's defect is. Your story is what matters!!

P.S.S. By mailing your story to us you are giving permission to us to submit it to the media. Please do not submit your story if you do not want it mailed to the media.
