We have a white sleigh bed with trundle in DD's new "big girl" room. I have finally found a bedding set that I like, with a duvet cover. However, I don't know whether to get the matching bedskirt (which is really cute and "finishes" the look). Is a bedskirt going to look funny with a sleigh bed (or with the trundle)?

I'm so decorating challenged, it isn't funny.

HELP!

I have used a bedskirt with a sleigh bed before, but you couldn't see much of it- just the bottom of the ruffle peeking out because my bed had a piece of wood running the length of the bed (if that makes sense).

If your bed doesn't have any side pieces that would obstruct the ruffle, I think it would look cute - except when you pull the trundle out, won't the dust ruffle then be laying flat on top of the mattress? that could be a little strange and might get torn...but maybe I am just not picturing correctly how it would work.

I think the ruffle would show on the 2 long sides, just not the sleigh ends, KWIM?

We don't really plan on using the trundle much at this point, though I might start her in the bed in the trundle (and not use the skirt at that point).

Thanks for your help!

Growing up my sisters and I all had trundle beds with bed skirts. It worked well, it hid the trundle from sight. My mum did make them though, so they were a custom-fit. Maybe you could try it, but make sure you can return the bed skirt if you don't like how it looks.

Just wanted to add that we have a sleigh bed with side rails and solid head and footboards in our master with a bed skirt. No trundle, but it looks great. When I have to retrieve wrapping paper from under there, I just tuck in the bedskirt under the mattress until I'm done. If you later don't want to mess w/ the bedskirt b/c you're having friends over for DD...you can always remove it and wrap the box spring in a coordinating fitted sheet...so it hides the ugly boxspring but still protects it from dust and looks cute!
