Well, the temperature here hit 90 degrees today! Hot and humid. I guess Summer is here! That got me thinking about all the things I need to shop for and dig out of the basement to really enjoy this Summer. Just for fun, want to help add to the list?

Sandals
Get a pedicure in a fun shade to wear with my new sandals :)
Bathing suits & Little Swimmers
Sunscreen
Sunglasses
Sunhats
Kiddie pool
Sprinkler (any suggestions for a fun one?)
Beach towels & blanket
Sidewalk chalk

Backyard toys such as wagon, toy mower, bug catcher
Lemonade
Posicles
Breezy sling to carry Hannah in

What else is on your list?

Off - Mosquito stuff just came out with cloth Off Wipes! I picked up some at Target. We did a test run and so far these wipes have worked great. I like them better than the spray stuff.

I highly recommend them to Mom's w/Toddlers.

As far as sprinklers go, we got a great one last year at Wal-Mart. It was less than $10 and made by Great Adventure. It is basically a long tube with lots of little tubes off of it that squiggle around and squirt water in various directions. All the kids loved it because it really allows them to play and run around without running into each other.

We got one of those three-ring pools from Walmart and they also have a foot pump for less than $10 that makes blowing up those pools a breeze. The 3-ring pool is nice because you can fill it up as high or low as you want so Kaya can splash with a tiny bit of water or more if we wish.

An inexpensive magnifying glass might be fun for Josh to look at little things if he's into that.

Water shoes? That way Josh could play with the water but still have shoes on his feet for running around.

It's supposed to hit 110 here next week, so DH installed the misters out back last weekend! We also signed DD up for swim lessons. Some other things to help keep cool:

Squirt bottles for misting to keep cool at the park
beachbag
Ice packs for the carseat (or order a coldseat www.coldseat.com - love it!!)
Magazines to look through while the kiddos are playing in the sprinklers
Visit the library for info on their summer reading program for young children.

Fun thread!!!

We just got a similar sprinkler at Target. Emma loves it! She likes that she can "catch" one of the little tubes and fill up her sand bucket with water. She calls it "milking the sprinkler" (we visited a dairy farm recently!)

I just wanted to add that if anyone is planning on buying anything from Lands End - ORDER NOW!!! I tried buying water shoes for Kieran and the color I wanted is already backordered until the end of August. Same thing with the bathing suits I wanted to get for Anna.

GREAT thread!

Lands End Adult Beach backpack (LOVE the pink!) -- DD is too young for the junior size, but I'm contemplating ordering it now for her to use next year! :)

novel for me (yeah, like I'll have time to read at the lake -- I can dream, right?).

Cupsicle sippy for DD munchkin brand -- http://www.munchkin.com/products/detail.html?section=prodCategories&ID=10021&pID=780

I agree! I thought Lands End to be kind of lame to completely sell out in MAY of all boy colors of the size we needed in the mesh water shoes!

Grrrr....
