We're going to be there this weekend and DD and I were hoping to spend much of the time in the pool (DH is at a yoga workshop), but now it looks like it will rain most of Saturday and part of Sunday. :( Any ideas of what we can do?

There's an outlet center in Lahaska that has a neat kids place there. It's Peddlers Village.

Oh my gosh, that would be awesome if I could stop by for a visit! You don't happen to live between New Hope and Baltimore, do you? If you're up to it, maybe I could pay you a visit on the way back?

Thanks! Sounds like a fun place to visit. The description of Giggleberry Fair sounds like it'll be a blast. I'm sure Kaya would love to ride the carousel! :)

I was going to suggest Peddlers Village too...but the stores are not outlets. They are actually rather expensive.

If you check out the web site you can see what types of stores they have. They have a high end baby/toddler clothing store and a fun toy store. Giggleberry Fair is fun for little ones...kinda like an upscale arcade.

Have fun!!

I've been to Peddler's Village many, many times (we're only about 45 minutes from New Hope, 1 hour from PV). But never been to Giggleberry Fair. Let me know how you like it if you end up going and if there is stuff appropriate for an almost a 2 year old to do.

By the way, all the stores (mostly boutique like ) are out in the individual "houses" or "houses" joined together so you will be getting wet going from one store to another if you do shopping.

If you want to be adventurous, drive into Philly and do the Please Touch museum - FANTASTIC.

If you just want to shop at outlets, about 15-20 minutes east into NJ, there's the Flemington outlets. They just opened a J. Crew outlet (haven't been to that one yet). They have an OshKosh, Carters, LLBean, Harry and David, Crueset, Wedgewood, etc. and a really good gourmet store.

If I think of anything else, I'll let you know.

Now that i'm reading the responses you're right, it's stores, not outlets. Now where did i see outlets during that same trip?!

Ah, here, just down the road:

Oooh! There are some kitchen stores there. Maybe I can get a good price on some All-Clad or knives!

Well, I'm south of New Hope so yeah, I'm in between and not far from the PA turnpike. I'm going to email you.

There are outlet stores right across the street from Peddler's Village. This area is really called Lahaska. Actual New Hope proper is a few miles north and on the river. The main street is full of great stores but spendy and not toddler friendly.

This is true, but there are outlets right across the street that you can walk to.

Peddler's Village is really nice. :)

My friend and her DH and DD took a ride out to New Hope on Mother's day and really enjoyed the day out going through the stores. But she had one word of advice regarding the shops in New Hope proper -- if possible use the baby carrier like Baby Bjorn rather than a stroller -- because it's tought to negotiate a stroller in and out of those shops.

I have been to New Hope a few times and it is a really nice place. I agree with the above post about strollers and Peddlers Village is the same way. I would honestly say it is not the best place for kids. Most of the shops do not allow you to bring in strollers and if they do it is hard to get around in the store with one. They do have outlets across the street which are a more kid friendly. Rice's Market is an outdoor market open on Saturday mornings and is not to far from there. I love Rice's you can find just about anything there. They are saying showers for tomorrow and that it is suppose to clear up so maybe it won't be such a bad day.

FYI - DH and I have stayed at the Golden Plough Inn in Peddlers Village and it was wonderful. They have a nice package that inclues your room, dinner and breakfast. If anyone is looking for a night away it is totally worth it.

Okay, we did end up going to Giggleberry for an entire morning and I ended up getting the all day pass. Kaya loved the carousel and ended up going on it 5 times (I went on an extra time in the afternoon when she didn't want to go on it). She also enjoyed scrambling through the 3-story maze, believe it or not. I thought it was going to be intimidating for her because there were kids running around like mad, but she just kept plugging along. And let me tell you, it is possible for a woman in her second trimester, wearing a long dress with not a huge amount of maneuver room in the bottom and carrying a full diaper bag to clamber through all the levels and actually make it to the top! Next time I do something like that, I'm leaving the diaper bag in the car and wearing something a bit more appropriate, LOL. But Kaya had a lot of fun in it and she even attempted the giant spiral, 3-story slide that was there. I just told her how to do it (flat on her back with her arms crossed on her chest or on the side if she wished and she went down with me behind her! I was so proud of her! :)

I think it would be even more fun for a 3 year old, but if you just want to get the carousel pass, it would be fun for an almost 2 year old. The other stuff, I think, would be too old for him or her. If I had had more time, I would have loved the "Don't Touch" museum.

Into antiquing at all? Lots of stuff like that.

We go almost every weekend for brunch either there or accross the river in NJ, it's very pretty out there (the drive is pretty too).

D'uh. Pay no mind to me, did not realise this was an old(er) thread.

No problem--I did notice the mile stretch of something like 100 antique places. I told DH we ought to go back, maybe sans DD (unfortunately, we have no relatives in the area to stash her with), just for the fun of it. There was also a winery there, that would have been fun if I weren't preggo. ;)
