OK, I know most people have already succeeded by this time, but I have had no luck getting my 6 months old to sleep in his crib. Lately, he hasn't even wanted to sleep in the cosleeper. He has also become very wiggly in bed. I had no sleep for more than a week.

So, I had hubby move the crib to our bedroom. I put the one side lower like a co-sleeper. I have been putting him in our bed awake with the sound machine on and he's been getting himself to sleep. So, I just put him in the crib awake with the sound machine on, then I lay down in our bed next to him. He kept turning to see if I was still there, but then turned away from me, played with his stuffed puppy and fell asleep on his side. He still woke up 4-5 times to nurse, but went right back to sleep in the crib with no fuss. I got the best night's sleep in ages. I feel like an all new person!!!

I think what you are experiencing is TRULY one of the BEST feelings in the world!! It is pure joy to see your baby fall asleep on their own, without any fuss.

Enjoy!!!

as someone who marks her baby's milestones by sleep half of the time, i'm doing the virtual 'sleep-dance of joy' with you. hope he makes it a routine with little effort on your part.

It makes SUCH a huge difference, doesn't it? Only other parents know this. Great job!

Thanks! I just put him in the crib again and he did the same thing as last night. Played with his stuffed puppy (he pets it very gently like he does with our cats and dogs), turned to see me a few times, rubbed his eyes, got on his side and went to sleep. No fuss, no crying it out.

I cannot begin to think of how many times I've put him in that crib to get immediate screaming. I just didn't have the heart to force him into crying himself to sleep. I guess he wasn't ready and now he decided he is. It's such a good feeling. I am so glad that I let him choose when and how he wanted to do this.

Now, I realize that he will be teething soon and all this may go by the wayside. I also realize that if that sound machine ever breaks, I will be driving to a Brookstone store immediately. But it's a great feeling right now.
