View Full Version : Mineral makeup for super oily skin?

I didn't want to get lost in the Everyday Minerals thread...

I have been using Bare Escentuals for almost a year now. I used to love it, but now I can't stand the shiny effect. I have always had super oily, acne-prone skin and have been even oilier lately for reasons unknown. I had hoped the Everyday Minerals matte formula would work, but alas I am still an oil slick. (BUT it does seems to last longer than BE.) I'm forced to use a combo of oil blotting sheets and pressed powder. Doesn't the compact powder defeat the purpose of using mineral makeup in the first place?!

I really like the feel of mineral makeup. Liquid makeup is not an option for me. Are there any other good brands out there to try? I heard of J.Lynne and Beauty Bliss, but there are no reviews on MakeupAlley.

TIA!

Have you tried an oil mattifier. I have really oily skin that is acne prone. I always use an oil mattifier before I put on my makeup and it controls the oil most of the day. I keep beauty blotters on hand but rarely have to use them. I used to use BE but like the matte finish of the Everyday minerals. The oil mattifier also works like a face primer which is an added bonus.

Maybe try some sort of primer? I don't have any experience w/ them but I've heard of people using them w/ mineral makeup.

Of all the MM brands I've used, Cory is the most matte. It might be worth trying? Her samples are very very inexpensive. The colors do run QUITE light though so take that into consideration when picking samples.

OK this is going to sound *REALLY* strange. Just a warning.

Several women on a few other boards I visit are *swearing* by the Monistat anti chafing gel as a makeup primer under mineral makeups, especially for oily skin. (It's not a yeast product at all - just a gel/powder thing for chafing only)

Apparently the main ingredients in the gel are about the same as a really expensive makeup primer from Sephora, but this stuff is only $6.99 at Wal-Mart.

I bought some the other day but have not had a chance to use it yet, but you might want to give it a try...

Yes, please do let us know! I'm curious too.

I've tried a couple of primers...just trying to find one that still works for me after a few weeks.
