Would a vinegar/water mix be enough? I feel like I should be adding something like oil to keep it in good condition. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I use a vinegar/water mix and it works perfect. When we had Pergo put it we were told that is all that we should use on it, and so far it's worked really well.

I use vinegar and water on my hardwood but add a couple drops of tea tree oil & lavendar oil ( for smell). Works great.

I know that tea water works for cleaning wood floors. I read it on a natural home cleaning website. It said to brew some tea and use it to mop floors. I don't know if this will or won't work on wood laminate floors. I guess it depends on whether there's an actual veneer of wood or it's plastic/vinyl made to look like wood.

Vinegar/water is good, but don't add baking soda or else you'll have streaks and a haze when you're done. I made this mistake myself when cleaning my ceramic tile. There was a fine powder when I was done.

Here's a recipe from diy for tea wood floor cleaner.

Cleaning Hardwood Floors

Materials and Ingredients:

1 qt. of boiling water
2 teabags
Measuring bowl
Bucket
Soft cloth

Note: The tannic acid in tea creates a beautiful shine for hardwood floors.

Let two teabags steep in the boiling water for a few minutes.

Pour the tea into a bucket.

Take a soft cloth and wring it out in the tea. Note: The cloth merely needs to be damp, not soaked. This will enable the floor to dry quickly.

Wash the floor and be ready to be amazed by the sheen.

I may be wrong but I am pretty sure you don't want to put oil on your laminate floor (Pergo on my floors :)). Vinegar and water will do a fantastic job and get them nice and shiny.

Water/vinegar should work great! You can add a few drops of olive oil if you feel like it needs a polish. Like pp, I do add some essential oils for the nice smell--I even have pine oil. :)

Thank you for all the recommendations! Good to know that water & vinegar are enough! I have so many yummy essential oils and would love to use a few drops on my floors as well.
