Several months ago someone posted a beautiful collage Rashmi made for her dh. I was inspired to do something similiar for my dh for this Father's Day. I shamelessly copied the idea and the quote and made my own collage with pictures of dd and dh together.

However, when I picked up the 8X10" print from Target, the top and left edges of the picture had been cut off. Now I need help figuring out where I went wrong so I can fix the image size and print the collage out with the whole thing on the final print. Any ideas, help, advice, etc. would be greatly appreciated. I am a Photoshop novice and have only done a few other projects on Photoshop after looking over Rashmi's tutorials.

Okay... I couldn't figure out a way to put the collage in this message. Here's the collage on shutterfly:

Thanks!

Maybe the image size was wrong when created it? NAK so can't type more.

Have you tried adjusting the canvas size?

Sorry I can't help with Photoshop but I wanted to say that your collage is gorgeous! You did great. I'm sure some smart mama on here can help you fix it to print correctly.

What was the image size, resolution, and canvas size of the picture?

It looks like it was sized for a 5x7 print? The quickest solution would be making a canvas of 8x10 methinks.

I was thinking the sizing was off. But if you have a 5x7 print and you just resize it to an 8x10 canvas, wouldn't that lose some of the resolution? Does she need to redo the whole thing using an 8x10 canvas? Or will resizing the entire image work? I'm partly asking because I've run into this before when changing my mind about a project, LOL. It's easy to resize down, but what about up? Thanks, Rashmi!

If the resolution was high enough to begin with, it should be fine. I don't mean resize it, I mean change the canvas size so there would be a border around it (it would be uneven since 5:7 is not equal to 8:10::4:5 but it would be the quickest solution). If OP wants to email me the collage, i can play with it some and see what i can come up with.
here is what i mean.
the blue is a 5x7, the black is the border making the whole thing a 8x10. if you played with the numbers some, you can make the border smaller too.

Thanks for all your ideas... I am so confused by the sizing issue... so I created the image as 2400 X 1800. I guess that translated to 8 X 6 inches. Does this mean I have to start over again?

Most of the pictures are 450 X 600 or so, it's not perfect as you can see. I was more successful with dd's first birthday announcements!

By the way, how does one post a picture in a message... I tried earlier and the "Click here to choose your attachments" did nothing.

Okay, I'll change the size and do this again. Thank you for your help! I've got to get on here more often...

Ah! Okay, that's sort of what I thought you meant, but I wasn't sure. That does make a lot of sense, though. :) Thanks, Rashmi!
