View Full Version : If you had a doula, did you give her a gift after birth?

We had a doula for LB, and she and I have became good friends. She was still in training when she took us on, so her services were free.

I'd like to get her a gift for being such a great doula, but what to get?

(And yes, I realize how lame I am - LB is 9 months old today and I'm just getting around to this now? Lame...)

Any help would be appreciated!

*Blush* that sounds like a really good idea.... Especially since my doula is my best friend. I will have to mull that over for her.

Hmm, maybe a massage? I know being a doula is hard work so that may ease the aches and pains associated. :)

Christy,

That is a great idea, but I suppose I should have also noted that she's a massage therapist with her own practice, so she can get a massage any time she wants one!

She also sells "Tastefully Simple" foods, so a basket of something like that would be out, too.

nak

mine is a bradley instructor so i'm planning(haven't done it yet either)to get her some industrial-size packages of toilet paper, plastic silverware, plates, cups, etc. They're all things she uses for her classes.

You could also do a restaurant or store GC to somewhere she likes.

Hth!

hmmm, well how about a date night out basket then? Movie Tix, GC for her fav food place....

I always REALLY like Cheryl and Co cookies. But they are a splurge.

OH! When DS was born got a Harry and David boxed gift set of their foods that was really yummy and semi-healthy.

Edible arrangements are fun if you have one of those around you too.

Yummm tastefully simple.

Yes - I gave my labor doula a copy of the Anne Geddes book about preganancy/babies (the name excapes me now). I also gave my child birth instructors a copy of The Red Tent, as the main character is a midwife (and my child birth instructors were very liberal/natural birth advocates) I thought they would appreciate it.

I made scarves for both my midwife and my doula - very different scarves, as they are very different people!

We gave her a box of cookies from www.carolscookies.com, too. She has 4 teenagers so I'm sure that they didn't last long.
