Hi. My dd is one. Her hair is long and now I understand the term rat's nest. I don't want to hurt her or her hair but the baby shampoo is not enough anymore. Has anyone used conditioner this young? I was thinking of using just a dab of leave in conditioner so I won't have to rinse it till it had worn off a little.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Melissa

When Payton's hair started getting frizzy after baths (somewhere between 12 and 18 months), we started using a 2 in 1 product. Right now we're mainly using the Suave Kids stuff, with occasional washes with the Kandoo 2 in 1.

i was using baby shampoo until last summer because i had SO much of it (from shower gifts) that i still had it when schuyler was 2! his hair was like straw from the swimming pool and the baby shampoo seemed to only make it worse.

i switched to loreal swim and sport shampoo (blue bottle, orange cap) and suave kids conditioner. it really did the trick! i don't use conditioner much in the winter, unless we swim indoors, but i do use it all summer. of course, my boys hair is short so it doesn't really tangle. but it does get all crazy.

i also got some suave detangler, which i use to resolved mega bed head! but my friends with girls use it for detangling.

We use CA Baby conditioner (rinse out) and a Suave Kids detangler after the bath. The combination works well, and I think we started around 18 months.

My sister used the leave in detangler pretty early with DN3 since she had really curly rat's nest hair.

Seems that baby hair does a magical transformation at the one-year mark!

I started using leave-in spray conditioner after DD turned a year and at the two-year mark had to start using gel. I use the Circle of Friends gel which is expensive but I feel better this way about putting styling products in dd's hair at such a young age.

I use Trader Joe's "Nourish" Shampoo & Conditioner on the whole family. Its totally all natural & organic with none of that awful Sodium Laurel Sufate or Panthenol (a.k.a. Pro-B vitamin). I was shocked at how well they both work (I'm not a big organic person, so I wasn't sure if I was ready to give up my salon products). The most amazing part is that a HUGE bottle of both only cost about $2.50 each!!!

I use the California Baby Leave-in conditioner on DD's hair. Hers is very curly so I do leave just it in. It is a great conditioner and I started using it a few months after her first birthday.

I use Paul Mitchell's light detangling spray on DD. It's a leave-in conditioner that I spritz on after towel drying her hair. It's fragrance-free.

Is the TJ's shampoo/conditioner tear free? We use Suave right now for me and DH and pricey stuff for DD. It would be nice to get everyone on the same, cheaper product - but DD does regularly get soap in her eyes.

We also use the Suave 2 in 1 shampoo. And, I use a
wide tooth comb to comb out her wet hair.

Would you mind posting a link or better description of what you use? DD's hair is curly too and I'd like to try it.

Thanks. :)

Here is the link to the conditioner.

I also use Aveda's Be Curly after I use the conditioner. It is spendy but it just takes a little.
