I've been reading "Emotionally Intelligent Parenting" & I really like the idea of having a family motto & mission statement as well as the constitution.

Would anyone care to share theirs?

Seriously, I hadn't thought about it before, but it sounds like it wouldn't be a bad idea to have one. Something to keep us focused on what we want our family to be, especially in stressful times.

Well, we don't have anything formal and I haven't read that book, so I don't know exactly what you are referring to, but our family guidelines or philosophy that leads us are:

1) Respect yourself
2) Respect other creatures (both humans and animals)
3) Respect the earth

This pretty much covers everything we do and try to teach DD all the way from no hitting or biting (people or the dog), no littering, eating organic, not doing drugs (when she's older of course), not hanging out with people who don't make you feel good about yourself, trying to stay fit and healthy, etc.

Is that what you mean?

So far, I would. I tend to read a lot of books & pick & choose things that I like. There are definitely a lot of things in this book that I really like. I'm about half-way through.
