We are going for about a week to Myrtle Beach to hang out with some friends for 4 days. What else can one do in the area for 3 days? One of the suggestions was Charleston. Any recommendations on where to stay hotel-wise? Or any other near by area that even may not be as touristy as we'd have enough of that in MB?

TIA

We go to the Litchfield / Pawley's Island area for vacation almost every year. It is south of Myrtle and a nice little area. Most of our time is spent on the beach or by the pool.

Litchfield By the Sea is a nice resort. South of Myrtle Beach is mostly vacation homes, golf, shops and restaurants. There is also Brookgreen Gardens and Huntington Beach State Park in the area.

Murrell's Inlet has the best restaurants. Alot of them look like dives but they have fantastic food. My favorite was Flo's Place - fantastic food and not too expensive. Murrell's Inlet is south of Myrtle Beach and Garden City, but north of Pawley's (as far as I can remember - BIL & SIL used to live there).
