Definitely a dam of some sort. Hoover Dam?

Looks like a river dam. Mississippi River, perhaps?

Don't think it's Hoover, though, since Hoover's much larger and has a distinctively rounded shape.

Three Gorges Dam in China?

Not a dam, just a bridge over troubled waters (well, not *really* troubled, just couldn't resist the phrase ;-) )

DH thinks it's somewhere on the west coast - maybe Oakland/SF?

I think it's probably in South America somewhere...or Europe...maybe somewhere else...

This bridge is not in the Americas.

It seems I have stumped everyone. This bridge connects two halves of a very old metropolis and is one of two bridges which does so.

The Mississippi is a magnificent river, but alas, this is not the Mississippi. :-)

Hmm, is this in Asia somewhere? The Yangtze river perhaps?

Oh, MAN! Missed it by four minutes!

Fetih Sultan Mehmed Bridge, Istanbul, Turkey

(Now sing:
"Istanbul was Constantinople,
now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople.
Been a long time gone, Constantinople.
Why did Constantinople get the works?
That's nobody's businsess but the Turks!") :)

Okay, I've never heard this song...where can I hear the tune? (or do I want to, LOL!)

The original version is from the 50s (by The Four Lads). Lots of college singing groups sing it. I think the best-known cover is from They Might Be Giants, though. There is an excerpt of the song on the Amazon page for their album Flood: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000002H7V/002-1144590-7778418?v=glance&n=5174

Very good! I was thinking of the song also when I posted. :P

And before Constantinople? This was the heart of Byzantium.
