Should I be concerned? She is 14 months old and only 4 teeth?

At 14 months DS only had 2 teeth. He's now 16 mths and he has 6 teeth. The last two months has been nothing but teething. Fun fun!

I don't think you have anything to worry about. The later they get their baby teeth the better. They'll keep them longer and hopefully have fewer problems w/their permanent teeth such as cavities.

My neighbors daughter is 15 months and has only 2 teeth right now. She's not worried. Her older daughter got all her teeth by the time she was 2 years old.

I'm a teacher. I've never seen a Kindergartener start school in a diaper or with only 4 teeth, so I'm gonna bet Liv is going to be just fine. :)

My oldest 2 were 12 months before they had ANY LOL. Dont worry they will come. My oldest 2 got them in spurts.

LOL....that was really funny
Ok, mamas thanks for the reassurance. Now the only problem-she has just started to sleep through the night. I think if she is going to hardcore teethe this MAY become a distant memory. Hmmm. I didn't realize that it took some kids so long!

Thanks again Ladies.....

Nancy, that certainly is an upswing that I didn't think about. Less cavities. Truth be told, I wasn't really nervous till my mom started flipping out about it. Thanks again!

Toby did not get a tooth until 15 months. They will come!

At that age, Abby only had two. She didn't get in all of her two year molars until shortly before her fourth birthday. No worries. Late teeth are strong teeth.

It's funny how Moms are the ones who stress us "New Moms" out about that stuff. My MIL wouldn't stop talking about DS getting teeth for over 6 mths. Now that he has teeth she won't stop talking about when he's going to get his first haircut.

Next thing I know it will be "doesn't he have a girlfriend yet?" Ha ha!

Allison is 14.5 months and has 3 teeth....2 on the bottom and one on the top! Didn't get her first tooth until 11.5 months old! I feel fortunate that I never had to deal with biting while nursing, so I consider it a blessing, and it hasn't seem to hold her back in the eating dept. one bit!

Honestly, the only thing I would be concerned about is if they all come in at once OUCH!! Three weeks ago Kieran only had 4 teeth (at 17 months), now he has what seems to be a mouthful, and they keep on coming!

My nephew is 15 months and has four teeth, so Liv's in good company. His pediatrician was mildly surprised ("Wow, that's all you've got in there?") but not concerned, and my sister says it doesn't stop him from eating anything he wants.

DD didn't get her first tooth until 15 months and now at nearly 17 months she just cut her 4th. Have faith, the teeth will come. Enjoy having less teeth to worry about brushing.

Truman had 7 teeth at his 18 month checkup. Two weeks later he had 18!! They show up on their own time. :)

what Toby could "chew" with those hard little gums at 15 months before he got his first teeth. Bread, meats, veggies, cut up apples...

My DS got teeth late as well and I want to tell you that for us teething was just not a big deal at all. I never had to use any medicine or anything, they would just show up one day without any change in DS. So, don't worry they will come and hopefully they will come easily!

My DD is 14 months and still has no teeth. Of course if you ask me, I have been sure she has been teething for the last 6 months. As a PP mentioned, I did enjoy nursing for a year without having to worry about being bit ;) My ped didn't seem concerned at her 12 month appt that she didn't have any, so we will see what she says at her 15 month appt.

I can't take credit. At one point, someone here posted something similar. But, I've recited it a million times during Kayla's development, and sure enough, it's proven to be right. :)

Nancy, with my mom it's "Can she have icecream...NOW?"
At six months she was really trying to persuade me because she was sure that DD was "sick of breastmilk".
It is funny how they are the ones who provoke the stress!
I'll have to make a mental note of this!

Margaret, what is so funny is that even though her teeth have been few and far between....she still manages to bite when we nurse!!! Not so much now, that she knows better, but definetely before!

I agree, Katie! She eats EVERYTHING! Only having four teeth does not stop her! She is determined!

Oh Jeanne, was it two weeks of misery? I am hoping that like one kind PP said, (Chris, I think) that they come EASY!!!!

Benjamin had ZERO teeth at 14 months. He didn't cut his first tooth until 15 months. People actually asked if I was worried he didn't *have* any teeth in there. Uh, no that was not something I worried about, LOL. Lots of other things this mama finds to worry about, but a child born with no teeth was not one of them!

The only way I ever knew DS got new teeth was that his cheeks would turn bright red for a day or two and then they would magically appear! He was a breeze. :)
