DS still jerks himself awake when he's sleeping, but he's outgrown his Miracle Blanket, as well as pretty much any receiving blanket. Any suggestions as to what I can do?

Thanks!

I swaddled DD up until she was 7+ months. I just swaddled her arms but left her legs out because it was her arms that would fling out and wake her. DD was quite little, but I'd suggest getting bigger blankets and just doing his arms and see if that works.

Go to a fabric store and buy some pieces of flannel that are big enough to swaddle him. If you know someone who sews, they can finish the edges for you. If you know no one who sews, you could do pieces of lightweight fleece (no need for finishing the edges) though it might be too warm for your DS.

Arm-only swaddling scared the crap out of me, personally. Even at 4 weeks, DS2 could work the tightly-wrapped Miracle Blanket up to his neck/face area. That was the end of the MB for us!

Try the Comfort Silkie cover me once flannel blanket (the cover me twice would be too hot for summer). It is HUGE! I can still wrap Tyler up in it and he is wearing size 2T. (I don't do this but have tried it) :)

We made our own larger sized blankets for swaddling, since the store bought ones got too small after a while.

Just so to the fabric store, pick out some good fabric, and sew the edges. If you don't have a machine, have one of those dry cleaning/alterations places do it for you.

Thanks all for the ideas! I ended up running to the store, buying a huge swath of fabric, and just cutting it up. It was supposed to be a quick fix until I could figure out a longer-term solution, but it has worked well so far. And now I'm feeling lazy. :)

Thanks again. You gals are awesome!
