Ishy decided that tonight's bedtime story should be "Moo, Baa, La, La, La." I decided to quiz him on what the animals say.

"A cow says... What does a cow say, Isy?"

"rrrrRRRRRGGGggghh!" he growled, as he normally does for a dinosaur.

Gotta wonder what the dairy farmers are feeding the cattle these days. :P

Please share your cute-baby stories, if you're so inclined. :)

Also along the farm animals line... my best friend's DD is about 18 months and LOVES pigs. Her favourite toy is a stuffed pig called "Omelette" (not their name for it - it is actually on the tag!) They had gone to the Stampede (basically a big rodeo/farm show etc) recently and took her to see the livestock barn. A farmer brought out a tiny piglet to show my friend's DD. My friend held her DD right up close to the piglet. Friend's DD looked at the pig for a moment, said "EYE!" and poked the piglet right in the eye! LOL!

(the piglet was not harmed and the farmer thought it was hilarious so other than my best friend's extreme mortification, all was well!) :)

Well, pirates say, "Arrrr!" if you ask Taran. ;) It's actually quite cute to watch/listen to.

Otherwise, Elowen was eating grapes (cut up into little pieces) during dinner tonight, and with each one that she'd pop in her mouth she'd make sounds that sounded remarkably like, "Num, num, num!" They stopped when she ran out of grapes (resulting in impatient "Ehhhh!" sounds), and continued when my husband gave her more. It was rather cute to watch, and of course evoked comments along the lines of, "Well, yes, grapes are nummy aren't they?" towards her. ;)

Silly Ishy, says Sophie.

EVERYBODY knows it's the LOBSTERS that say, "RrrrrrrrrRRRGGGGGHHHHH!"

We picked up a Baby Bjorn toilet seat and DD noticed the logo, pointed at it, then said and signed "dog". I said "No, that's a bear" and signed "bear". DD shakes her head, "dog". I tried again to convince her it was a bear, she was not having it - so for now, the logo (according to DD) has a *dog*.

Dd has taken to nursing while holding her current favorite stuffed animal. At some point she will pop off and hold the animal to my breast and make eating noises. then she'll go back to nursing.
So far, I've nursed a pig, a bear, and a frog.
I can only hope she'll be as generous with her younger sibling.

Similar...DS insists the "coo"ing doves outside are really "who"ing owls. We're big Pooh-bear fans here.

That's really cute! I've nursed her lambie a lot. She's been trying to get my other side to be open while she nurses on one side, but I told her if she did that, someone needed to be nursing on it, so she put her lambie on it. She wants me to make the noises though, so she can continue! :)

Oh, and the other day she was NOT sleeping during her nap and suddenly I hear her yell, "Look at Lambie, look at Lambie!" I went in to make sure she hadn't dropped lambie through the bars or something like that. Instead, she looked up and said, "Look, Lambie's drinking milk!" She had his head inside her sleep sack and was "nursing" him.

Lol! Well, because of that book (and another where piggies say "wee, wee, wee") we never know what wer're going get when we ask Luke what a pig says. Lately, he replies "La, la, la. No, no."

CUTE! And I have to say that Ishie looks so grown up in your avatar. :)

I was working last night at my lame-o job and called home on my break to talk to DH. DH put DS on the phone. The conversation went like this:

Me: Hey, big guy!
Luke: Mommy?
Me: How are you?
Luke: Mommy?
Me: What did you eat for dinner?
Luke: Peetah (pizza)
Me: You had pizza?
Luke: Dahna (lasagna)
Me: And lasagna?
Luke: Noodoh (noodles)
Me: And noodles, too?!? Oh my!
<silence>
Me: Mommy has to go now. I love you!
Luke: Ohhhh-kaaaaaay.

hehe! Dora isn't there yet, but this is her favorite book after "Noisy Farm." She loves it when I do the animal sounds. I have to read the book 3-4 times in one sitting.

DD was running around unclothed (we're working on potty training...) and picked up
a stuffed puppy and held it between her upper thighs. And said "Look! I have a doggy in my botty! Mommy? Do you want a doggy in your botty?" In the pause where I collected my thoughts, and edited the first dozen responses, she said impatiently "Mommy! Yes please or no thank you?" I answered "No, thank you."

After DS learned what "no" meant a few months ago, he started shaking his head and saying "No, NO!" at the part of this book that goes "No, no, you say, that isn't right...". In fact, he even got too upset during the "No, no..." part to have this book read to him for a few weeks. Now of course, he is over it and has no problems with the "no" word. :P
