I have a friend who lives in Boston, MA. She's going through some tough times, so I wanted to give her a spa gift certificate (I owe her a belated graduation gift, in any case!). Do you all have any recommendations?

I heard about this recently... www.spafinder.com
You can buy a gift certificate that is good at participating spas. If you put in a Boston zip code you can see how many spas participate.

Here are recent winners of the Best of Boston (which means they are really expensive):

I second Bella Sante. Maksou in the financial district is very good too.
