Need ideas for fire truck themed 3rd b-day party for DS.

DS wants a fire truck themed party. Anyone already BTDT and have some great ideas to share.
I was thinking of taking a pic of him by a fire truck for the invitation.
What would you give for favors? I prefer to have one nice favor rather than several small toys. I was thinking maybe the Crocodile Creek placemat with a fire truck on it. Anyone know of a place to get a great deal on them?
I will probably order fire hats and firetruck pinata from Oriental trading Co. too.
I will order the cake, so don't need ideas for that.
Would love some great ideas!

i don't have any experience with this, but some friends have had great b-day parties at fire stations. they all sounded really fun. i think they give out fireman hats for free :)

we had a firetruck birthday for DS's 4th birthday. My mom called our local fire station and asked if they weren't too busy on the day of his party if they could send a truck and firemen over. They said they would try. Sure enough an hour into the party up drives a firetruck and they all said "Happy Birthday Mason" over the loudspeaker! The kids all got a chance to climb inside and take pictures all over the truck! Best of all it was FREE!!!! The firemen were super nice and all the kids and parents thought it was soooo cool! Just call your local station and ask!!!!

Good Luck with the party! Oh and our favors were the plastic fire hats and a bottle of bubbles and one other thing I can't remember! The placemats are nice, we had a ton of kids though!

I'm also doing a firetruck themed party in a couple of weeks for my 2yo dd. The city is sending a firetruck to the house and they will have some favors for the kids too. It's all free!!

I found a little golden book about the firestation that is a perfect favor. I got it at Walmart in the toy section. It was on a round rack with other little golden books and some Dora and Berenstain books. The books were $2.50 each. I also found stickers at the dollar store and will give the litte ones each a book and a sticker sheet. I think that's plenty in addition to what the firefighters will provide.

I'm having trouble deciding what to give the older cousins. A 9 yo girl and an 8 yo boy. I don't think they'd enjoy anything fire fighter themed.

Thanks for the link to Birthday Direct. I love some of the plates. We're having a lot of kids too, so I am trying to look for another option for favors even though I love the placemats. Now off to order.
