Beautiful photos!! Your boys are SO cute! And the outfits are amazing! I thought they were Kelly's Kids or Rags Land - you're VERY talented!! Is it embroidery or appliques? Do you have an embroidery machine? I've been wanting to try my hand at machine embroidery but I think dh would have a cow if I took up yet another, potentially expensive hobby :)

Great pictures! My first thought was, "I bet she made those outfits!" I can't remember if you've said if Schuyler is potty trained. If so, can he still wear outfits like this? That's the one thing I'm dreading about potty training; I want Trent to wear those cute jon jons as long as possible!

Liza, those pictures are precious of your two boys! You're one blessed mama with such handsome kids, talented sewing skills and beautiful memories of your beach trip! :)

BTW, was that the OBX?

thanks thanks! the outfits are hand smocked. kinda like cross stitch, i hear, but since i never did cross stitch, i can't really say for sure. i do happen to have an embroidery machine. but my MIL got it for me so i could have a home business- she remembered what it was like to be at home full time without having a "thing" for herself (later, she started selling for a home-party kinda business and did great at it- still does.) i must say- the machines are VERY expensive. but you can learn smocking for MUCH less! i got my pleater for $100 on ebay and took at class for $80. you can sell a smocked outfit for $50-$75 and quickly recoup those costs. i LOVE it!!! (edited to add pics of smocking)

schuyler is potty trained- he trained at 26 months! when he first PT'd, i would just unsnap the diaper snaps and lift the outfit up so he could go potty. now, i make his outfits without diaper snaps, so he just pulls off one shoulder at a time and pulls down the outfit. he has recently started doing/undoing his own buttons, so it isn't a problem at all for him. i'd say when they start, make sure you have those quick release diaper snaps so you can lift it up. but after they are really trained, they can just ask you to help with the jon jon or learn to wiggle an arm through. :)

my parents have a house at the outer banks, but they rent it out. so we let it rent this year for the whole summer and went to holden beach- southern NC shore. it is very quiet down there- not crowded at all. we love it!
