Okay so Im not in the states right now, so I dont get to see all of the 'catchy' new toy commercials but I just spoke to my neice on the phone (she will be 6yrs in a couple of weeks) and she really wanted a mermaid doll!

Now my Sister in law tells me that she thinks its a Little Mermaid 2 Melody doll, it swims or something, I dont know!

Does anyone have any idea what Im talking about?!? Ive been looking all over (google) :) and cant find anything....

My first thought was the Barbie Mermaidia doll.

There is a Barbie Mermaidia movie and there are dolls
too.

I dont think its the Barbie one. But it may be this one. Its hard to tell when a 5yr old is telling you about (ykwim) :)! Thanks so much! This could make my neice a very happy lil girl...

How about this one?? We just got it at Target today.

This mermaid doll swims in the water. Comes with a
storybook and seahorse.

Check out this old ebay auction...it looks like the melody mermaid may be hard to find :(

It seems that Melody is from the second Little Mermaid movie.

ETA: This one does not swim so maybe there is another swimming one out there that is easier to find.

You know Disney is re-releasing The Little Mermaid on DVD in October, so there may a lot of Little Mermaid merchandise coming. We actually never watch commercials (DVRs rock!) so I don't get my toy news that way. But when I perused the princess/Barbie aisle at Target this very morning, I saw lots of Little Mermaid merchandise, but not what you are describing.
