Any ideas for winter vacation spot between Richmond & Atlanta?

A friend from Atlanta and I would like to vacation together over winter break and we both want to drive. We both have 2.5 yr old boys. Any ideas for a good place to go? Preferably at most 4-5 hr drives. Give me your best ideas!

I've never been there in winter, but Asheville, NC isn't too far from Atlanta, although I'm not sure about how far it is from Richmond (probably too far?). It popped into my mind as we'll be taking a trip in the fall (we went last year as well) and I'm looking forward to it!

We live in Chattanooga, TN and there are lots of things to do downtown. There is an awsome aquirium, kids musuem, etc. We have lots of visitors in the summer and weekends, its a great kid friendly place to spend a long weekend.
