Since I got a great recomendation for my last dinner, I thought I would ask about a nice place for dinner in Baltimore. It needs to be nice, but not necessarily romantic. We will be staying at the Marriott on the waterfront and we will be there in October.

Thanks!

Do you want something unique or a chain restaurant?

I believe there is a Cheesecake Factory around there as well as a Legal Sea Foods.

I think Fells Point has some nice unique places to eat - just across the harbor.

There are some great Italian restaurants right there because Little Italy is just a few blocks away. We stayed on the waterfront in May and had a great time. We ate at a very nice Italian restaurant one night but it was a little pricey. The food was incredible though. If you want, I can look up the name for you. The are is beautiful so you should have a great time.

I stayed there a few years ago on business at the Stoffers (esp.) hotel in the waterfront area. At the top of the hotel, they have a revolving restaurant - it was great. I had some kind of chowder and it was served in a sourdough bread bowl and it was delicious.

There are lots of good restaurants right in that area: Oceanaire, Roy's, Fleming's-all nice upscale chains. There are also plenty of family owned Italian restaurants in Little Italy-Aldo's and Boccaccio's are the nicest I think, but quite pricey. La Tavola and La Scala are my 2 favorites and not quite as pricey. If you feel walking over to Fells Point (pretty close) I would recommend John Stevens, the Black Olive or Henningers. If you have kids with you James Joyce is a fun Irish spot that is super friendly and has outdoor seating. I live right in Little Italy so if you have any more questions ask away!

One of our favorite places in that area is the Capitol City Brewery. Everything I've had there has always been excellent. If it's a nice day you can even eat outside.

Can people get steaks at Aldo's and/or Baccaccio's? would either one be better for about 10-12 people? what about good casual lunch places? Or cool toy/book stores near by? I won't have DD with me, but I like to pick up things I can't get back home.

Thansk for your help!

I love Helmand- it is an Afghan restaurant on N. Charles Street. It is nice, but not really fancy. The food is really great there.

Roy's is one of my favorite restaurants! They have a few places around the US including Baltimore. Not sure how close this would be to you.

If you're looking for steaks I would probably recommend Fleming's or Ruth's Chris-they are both right there as is Roy's which someone else recommended. You probably could get steaks in Little Italy though, it's just not where I would go for that. Bocaccio's bigger, but I personally prefer Aldo's-I'm sure either one could accomodate a big party. A new Capital Grill just opened up nearby, and it's supposed to be great for steak. Casual lunch places- I like Red Star in Fells Point, James Joyce again, J Paul's in the harbor is pretty good. There are also some good places in Canton (Mama's on the Half Shell) and Federal Hill (Regi's, Porter's) both of those neighborhoods are a bit of a hike but are accessible by water taxi. There are two good kid's stores right in Fells Point-Corduroy Button (clothes) and Amuse (toys)-they are right on Thames street and an easy walk from your hotel.

I forgot to mention 2 other spots-Charleston's is nearby and has really amazing food but is seriously expensive. Also, Pazo is a new hotspot-they serve Tapas and are in a really neat old warehouse building with a fun vibe. Would be fun to stop in for drinks before or after dinner even if you don't eat there.
