that attaches to the rear cargo door? I was told by the guy at the bike shop that because of how the door is made, a rack wouldn't be able to be attached to the door. He said I'd have to get a hitch installed on the van, then get a hitch bike rack, which would be really expensive (or get one that attaches to the top--but since I'm only 5'3", that's not really an option). He seemed like a nice guy, but I just wanted to check and see if anybody had been able to use a door one on their Odyssey.

We live in an area without sidewalks, and there's a paved bike trail nearby that I want to take the kids to, but my bike doesn't fit very well in the van, and certainly wouldn't be safe with the kids in there with it.

TIA,

Sheila

I'm not sure, but check out rei.com and you can check two different brands that allow you to enter info about your car and they tell you what will work. Here's a link:

http://www.rei.com/online/store/Search?noalias=1&stat=7889&langId=-1&query=bike+rack&link=1&cat=4962166%2C4500850%2C4962167%2C4962168%2C450087 8&orig=bike+rack&storeId=8000&vcat=REI_SEARCH

Click near the top, where it says "click here for step-by-step..."

HTH! :)

Yes! We use an older Rhode Gear rack. The key is you need "glass hooks" because the top trim piece is plastic, not metal. I think that Yakima makes them now. Ours is similar to this one:

Ours is the old design Odyssey (pre-2005), so I'm not sure if a new one would be able to fit.

This response is for both of you ladies--thanks, you're the best! I actually have a 2004 Odyssey, and I don't bike a whole lot, so using the links you suggested, I found that I can get the Yakima Little Joe 3 for under $100. That's exactly what I was hoping for.

Thanks again!
