I shipped the wrong items back (at my expense) on Saturday. Thanks for all your help!! Seller was very happy (and relived, I think). My items showed up yesterday, whick I'm thrilled about. Apparently, she sent 2 packages to me, so my items weren't delayed at all! Anyway, now I need to leave feedback for her. Should I mention the shipping issue (getting the wrong item) or just say something like prompt shipping, good communication, etc.? I'm going to give her + either way.

TIA!
**************************************

The story: I won an auction on ebay last week (price $9.99 with $10 shipping). Seller sent an e-mail with shipping information. Product arrived a couple of days later, but it was TOTALLY the wrong item. She mixed up my items with someone else's. Anyway, I sent her an e-mail explaining the situation yesterday and today she replied, very apologetic. She offered to refund my shipping ($10) if I would send the item back to her, have the other person who got the wrong stuff do the same thing, and then send them out ASAP.

Here's my question. Should I ask her to pay for return shipping for the wrong item? It'll cost me about $5 to ship it back to her, plus the time, etc. to get it to the post office with 2 kids in tow. But the item wasn't that expensive (some Pottery Barn stuff that I got a GREAT deal on) so if I ask her to pick up the return shipping plus refund my original shipping, she'll basically be losing money on the auction (refunding $10, $5 for my return shipping, at least $5 to ship my correct item back to me). I'm trying to be reasonable, but have only limited experience with ebay, so I'm not sure what reasonable is.

Absolutely! It was her error and there is no way you should have to pay to fix it.

I just feel guilty asking her to lose money! But you are right, she did screw up big time. DH was just wondering how many packages she messed up (about 8 auctions ended on the same day within about 2 hours).

If she refunds you $10 to send the items back to her, and it only costs you $5 in reality, you're coming out $5 ahead. That seems to be a pretty good deal, and I'm not sure that it wouldn't sour the transaction a little to ask for more. IMO, the seller is doing a good job of correcting her mistake.

This has happened to me. The seller refunded me the money to ship back to her ($5) and then did not charge to send the right item. So I only paid shipping once.

That's right--if she's refunding you the original shipping cost, then you're coming out ahead. I would not request this.

I would say something like "item as described, good communication"

I agree, "item as described, great communication." Glad you got your stuff!!!
